Chapter 1131 I Have Got Nothing To Say To You

The night breeze blew and messed up the stray hairs draping over Iris’s forehead. The gaze within her eyes remained as determined as ever and there were no other emotions in her fair and clean face. “I’ve said what I need to say. President Hall, please leave if there’s nothing else.” The tall figure in front of her remained unmoved without giving any reaction as his black eyes kept staring at her. He had no intention of leaving. Iris waited for a moment but he still did not leave, thus she decided to just turn around and walk back into the shop without looking at him. Helen was watching from not too far away, looking rather pleased that her daughter was conversing with the handsome man outside. She was not standing too near but she could see the man’s appearance and could tell that this man was among those at the top of the food chain. Furthermore, he had maintained a calm composure from the beginning without getting all worked up. ‘No wonder my daughter would get all sad because of this man.’ Helen wanted to stop Iris when she saw Iris returning but she failed to do so and had to follow Iris into the kitchen. “How did it go? Did you follow my advice and voice all the issues out in the open?” “Yes, everything is out in the open.” Iris mournfully replied. She was so full of energy to work earlier but after she spoke with Quentin, she became lifeless like a puppet who had just lost its strings and looked as if she was tired of living. “If everything is out in the open, what’s the verdict then? Why do you look so lifeless now? Is it because both of you didn’t come to a consensus?” “Mom, can you not ask so many questions?” Iris turned her head away and lay her head on the table. Helen immediately went over to the other side. “I’m just concerned about my daughter’s relationship, why do you say that I’m asking so many questions? I’m not asking about other people’s problems. I can see from afar that the man seems to be quite a successful man yet he waited for you the whole day. You shouldn’t just be wrapped in your own anger only.” “I’m not. He’s waiting for me because of another issue. I’ve made myself clear to him and will not want to have anything to do with him in the future.” The last sentence seemed to have sucked all of Iris’s energy away and she hid her face in her palms. Helen, “...” ‘I don’t know what else to say since she said so.’ Just like that, the man still stood outside their restaurant until it was time to close. The staff all left the shop and huddled together as they quietly discussed. ‘Oh, he’s so handsome. I think he’s much better looking than the other man who came here looking for our boss the other time. He has been waiting the whole day, hasn’t he? Why isn’t our lady boss talking to him?” “I’m not sure. Perhaps she doesn’t like him? Maybe that’s why she ignored him?” “She’s got such an expensive taste that she’s not even interested in such a good specimen.” “Our lady boss is like a low-profile awesome person. She runs a ramen shop but she could get a man driving a luxury car to come to look for her. I wonder if she has some great tricks in seducing men?” “Don’t talk nonsense. The boss’ mother had told us about Mr. Limbus. He’s the owner of this shop and leased it to them. Besides, he’s married and loyally in love with his wife.” “Pfft, how loyal can a man be? It’s nothing but lip service. Who knows if they will end up together?” “Please respect the deceased. Stop talking nonsense. Let’s go.” They all left in a group. Helen packed up and was about to leave but she noticed that Quentin was still standing there, thus she could not help but walk over to him. “Mister, why don’t you go back first? You’ve been waiting the whole day and haven't eaten anything yet.” Quentin noticed her age and his gaze shifted. “Hello, aunty.” “Hello, I’m Iris’s mother,” Helen introduced herself and said, “Don’t wait anymore and get home earlier. Don’t wait till your stomach hurts from starving the whole day.” Quentin’s lips moved as he smiled thinly. “Thank you for the concern, aunty. I’ll wait a little longer.” Helen noticed that she could not convince him to leave. Furthermore, he was being extremely polite and maintained decorum. What surprised her, even more, was that he did not even ask her for her help to talk to Iris. That was something Helen admired about him. Helen returned to the kitchen and pulled Iris’s collar. “Get up. How long more do you want to lie here? Don’t you want to go home?” Iris appeared rather resentful since she was being pulled up. “I’ve been working non-stop for the past two days, can’t I rest?” “You shouldn’t be resting here even if you want to rest. Go home, shower, eat something, and then sleep on your bed.” Iris, “...” Left with no choice, she stood up, packed her things, and went out with Helen. When they arrived at the entrance, Iris paused for a moment and looked in disbelief. ‘He’s… still here?’ Iris thought that based on Quentin’s character, he would have left after what she said earlier. She never thought that he would still be around. Helen winked at her. “Do you want to go over and talk to him for a moment?” Iris frowned. “Mom, did you do this on purpose? Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” “If I told you earlier, are you planning to not go home tonight?” “...” That reason was so valid that she had no way of refuting it. Iris stiffly walked over as if she did not notice Quentin standing there. She felt that she should stick to her grounds since she had made her decision. If she caved in just because he had waited for her the whole day, then what was all the hurt she experienced before this? She did not want to continue degrading herself like that. The ramen shop had a wide door but because the direction they were headed was where Quentin was, she wanted to walk a big circle but Helen pulled her back. “Well, you’re not planning to talk to him, so why are you afraid of him?” Iris was pulled by Helen as they walked past Quentin. However, Iris heard Quentin’s clear voice when she walked past. “I have something to say to you.” ‘He has something to say to me? What is it about?’ Iris scoffed inwardly without answering. Instead, she walked even faster. Quentin frowned and could not help himself from going up to her to block her path before he looked at Helen apologetically. “I’m very sorry, aunty. I’d like to take up some of your time.” Helen indicated her stance. “You young people should settle your issues on your own. I’ll wait around the corner. Iris, talk nicely.” Iris said, “Mom…” It was late at night and most of the shops along the streets were closed by now. The street lamps elongated their shadows as they stood there. After standing there for a day, Quentin looked rather pathetic now and was not as exquisite as he usually looked. Iris was secretly pleased to see Quentin looking like that. ‘Let you experience how I normally feel.’ That day, she had been starving herself the whole day. She would be fine with it if she had her wish come true. Unfortunately, things did not go her way. Instead, her feelings were severely hurt. She coldly spoke at that thought, “You have something to say to me? Sadly, I’ve got nothing to say to you.”
