Chapter 1130 Do Not Come Looking For Me Again

Quentin was staring at Iris so much that she felt as if the back of her head was burning. In the end, Iris could no longer take it and decided to hide inside the kitchen for the rest of the day. Helen could tell that Iris was acting weird, thus she cooked up an excuse about serving tables but was stopped by Iris. “Mom, you’re not allowed to go out. You can only stay inside here with me.” “What nonsense are you talking about? I’m just going out to help serve food to the tables. Move aside.” “Nope, serving tables is just your excuse. You’re planning to go out and look for someone.” Iris knew her mother very well but since she had decided that she would no longer have anything to do with Quentin, she did not want Helen to know about him or see him. That was to prevent any future awkwardness. “Who said so? Who am I going to look for? Didn’t you see how busy our restaurant is? I’m just going out to help.” Iris looked at her with resentment. “The kitchen is busy as well, so it’s the same if you help out inside.” Iris refused to let Helen go out no matter what the latter said. Night came and Iris already had her dinner but she still hid in the kitchen. “Has he left?” She called her shop staff and asked gingerly. The assistant shook her head. “He’s still there. Boss, aren’t you going to talk to him? I saw that he has been outside the whole day and hasn’t had anything to eat, why don’t…” “Don’t even think about it!” Iris immediately stopped her. “I know what you want to say, but no! Do you hear me?” ‘It’s just a day without food. The other day I went to the party with him, I starved myself the whole day but what did I get in return? ‘I won’t be so stupid. It’s up to him if he wants to wait and not eat anything.’ Iris knew that he must be here because of the sixty thousand. It was nine at night and Iris could no longer stand staying inside the kitchen. She lay there and did not want to open her eyes. “Hasn’t he left?” “Not yet, boss.” “...” ‘Why hasn’t he left?’ Iris did not understand it. ‘Just because of the sixty thousand? Is it necessary?’ “Rissie, what is going on? He’s been waiting outside. I think you should clear the air with him?” Helen was curious but she was also heartbroken for her daughter. How could a mother not feel heartbroken after witnessing how badly her daughter cried? Now that Iris was avoiding him, Helen guessed that this was the man that caused Iris to cry.” “Things will have to be settled sooner or later, isn’t it? There’s no use for you to keep avoiding him.” “Mom, I’m not avoiding him.” She felt that she was not avoiding him and was only doing this because she did not want to make herself any cheaper than she already felt now. “Go talk to him if you’re not avoiding him. He’s been waiting there the whole day. I can tell that he’s quite a sincere kid.” Helen kept trying to advise Iris and the defense that Iris placed up was gradually peeled off by Helen’s persistent nagging. She nodded her head in defeat. “I get it, mom. I will talk to him later.” “Air all your thoughts out in the open. Don’t keep them to yourself,” Helen reminded Iris and tugged on Iris’s sleeves, “did you hear me? You must clear everything out of your system so that you will feel better.” “I get it.” Quentin came alone but he never thought that she would still refuse to see him even after he had waited the whole day. He was a person who could control his emotions extremely well, thus he could wait the whole day and still did not express any negative emotion. Iris was thinking to herself while she walked out of the kitchen, ‘I must take preemptive measures and be the active party. I will explain my stance to him clearly and stop lowering myself! ‘I will say everything out in a breath and ask Quentin to leave! I will never go looking for him ever again!’ Quentin was on the phone when she came over. “Hmm, almost. Later…” He immediately ended the call the moment he saw her appearing in front of him. “You’re here?” He calmly asked after she stopped in front of him. Iris was a little surprised. She thought that he would be a little frustrated or annoyed after waiting the whole day but his tone could remain as indifferent as this. ‘Does he even have a heart? ‘But what has that got to do with me?’ “You’re looking for me because of the sixty thousand, am I right?” Iris went straight to the point. Quentin was stunned for a moment and pursed his lips. He guessed as much that Iris was the one who gave him the sixty thousand but this was not the purpose of his visit. “I heard that you lost a lot of money after you gave up on a business negotiation just to rush over to the police station. Furthermore, the dress the other day was bought by you. I know that I owe you a lot of money, but… I will slowly pay you back in installments.” ‘Pay me back?’ Quentin heard those words and frowned with displeasure. “Solomon told you about that?” Iris did not want to drag Solomon into this, thus she denied it quickly. “No.” She denied it and Quentin did not seem like he was planning to harp on that issue. He calmly closed his eyes a little and said, “That has got nothing to do with you. You don’t need to take responsibility for that.” ‘Nothing to do with me?’ Iris smirked with sarcasm. “Fine. you said that it’s got nothing to do with me then so be it.” ‘but I want to pay back the money that has got nothing to do with you as well.’ Quentin was not feeling too sure as he looked at her expression. He narrowed his eyes slightly and asked about the past two days. “Have you been busy over the past two days?” “Why? Are you looking for me because of something?” Iris continued to look at him with sarcasm. His pupils darkened and there was a sharp gaze that he faintly hid within his expression. “You didn’t come to my office.” Iris acted as if she just realized it. “Oh, is it because I didn’t come to deliver food to you, President Hall? You’re right, I've been quite busy lately and couldn’t make it to your office. You saw it as well that the business here is booming so much that I can’t leave.” Both of them fell into silence after she said so. “Are you coming tomorrow?” Quentin calmly asked after he kept his silence for a few seconds. Iris, “...” She blinked her eyes and looked at the handsome-looking Quentin. His face was partially covered under the shadows of the night and appeared rather surreal to her. “Nope,” she answered. “Hmm,” Quentin nodded and indicated that he understood before he asked, “what about the day after?” “...” ‘Is he truly that dense or is he acting dumb?’ Iris bit her lower lip and felt as if Quentin was here on purpose to mock her by asking her these stupid questions. ‘Does he think judging from my past behavior, I will surely run to him the moment he wags his fingers signaling for me to go to him? ‘Not a chance this time!’ Iris thought about it and clenched her jaws tightly. “Not going.” “Then when will you come?” Iris finally understood that it was not because Quentin did not understand it. He was just acting dumb. She smirked and smiled at Quentin with sarcasm. “I’m not going anymore. I will never go there ever again.” She said those words with such determination that it overshadowed her usual energetic and smiley character. “I will never go to your company to look for you again. The same goes for you, don’t come looking for me again.” Quentin, who had been acting stoic and calm, finally frowned.
