Chapter 511
Jessie and James sat beside Evelyn, and they both turned to look at Cyrus when they saw Cyrus' attitude to Evelyn.
He was still so nonchalant. Didn't he realize who he was dealing with? This meeting was about controlling a family business worth billions, and here he was, playing a mobile game!
Here, the Sykes family was the real powerhouse—not just in Summerland but throughout the nation.
"Grandma, he's the one—" Jessie began but was immediately cut off by Evelyn's sharp glare.
"Does he not have a mouth? Let him speak for himself."
"Alright." Jessie shrank back and made a face at James. Evelyn was really scary when she was angry.
Margot and Nicole exchanged nervous glances. They were too scared even to breathe loudly. Everyone's eyes were on Cyrus, who continued playing his game.
"My name is Cyrus," he said casually.
Just as simple as that? Evelyn waited for his answer, but he only offered these words.
Cyrus was just a minor local celebrity in Jorsproburgh, nothing more. No one had ever dared to be so arrogant in Evelyn's presence before.
Margot had met Evelyn previously during a visit to Centuria for a Summerland Medical Association meeting.
"Mrs. Sykes, he's the director of Innerzen Medical Center and the founder of Hippocratism. He's also one of the Four Chairmen of the Medical Association," Margot said politely.
"Actually, he's the leading chairman of the Medical Association," Nicole added.
Evelyn glanced at both of them and smiled. "It seems that the Foster and Cunningham families are now run by young ladies? I remember the days when the medical industry was dominated by the Big Four like Marshall, Ortis, and Harvey. They're very talented."
Benjamin gave an awkward smile.
Marshall remained impassive as he was pondering whether Evelyn was the one who planted Blood Bat venom on him and if he should confront her now and end it all.
But if Evelyn died, would it harm the future of the Fosters who had hundreds of legitimate descendants spread across Summerland?
Margot's and Nicole's presence naturally paled compared to Evelyn's, and they were feeling uncomfortable.
Cyrus paused his game and walked up to Evelyn. "You're right. The four families were indeed influential once, holding onto the Jorsproburgh market and thwarting external forces. But they met gruesome ends."
"Are you referring to Harvey?" Evelyn scoffed.
"Harvey didn't suffer as I ended his life painlessly with a single needle to the brain. It was Ortis who met a cruel fate, being killed by Blood Bat venom," Cyrus replied.
At Cyrus' words, Evelyn's face froze in shock. How could Cyrus know about Blood Bat venom, an ancient secret lost for centuries?
"At your age, you aren't qualified to show off in front of me. Do you even know what Blood Bat venom is?" Evelyn questioned.
Cyrus stared at Evelyn, circling the table before standing beside Marshall. "Mrs. Sykes, I haven't finished. The most tragic is actually Mr. Sykes Senior. He's 88 years old and has been tormented by Blood Bat venom for a decade."
Marshall also glared at the Sykes family with his fists clenched tightly. If it weren't for the Foster family's sake, he would've slaughtered the Sykes family right there.
Even killing one member would be worthwhile.
Evelyn's expression turned cold, and her lips twitched uncontrollably. Anyone who knew this information should be sent straight to their death.
Cyrus was testing to see how many details Evelyn and Chris knew. It was clear that Jessie and James were completely clueless.
"What are you trying to say?" Evelyn asked coldly.
Cyrus leaned forward on the conference table with an aggressive gaze and stared directly at Evelyn. "Mrs. Sykes, what's the ancestral medical creed of the Sykes family?"
"How dare you! What does our family creed have to do with you?" Evelyn questioned.
Jessie also stood up and shouted at Cyrus, "You ruffian! Who gave you the right to question my grandma? Are you saying that we're responsible for the venom?"
