I didn’t realize I’d fallen asleep until I was woken by a knock on the door.
I opened my eyes to Caleb sitting in the armchair across from me and Joseph sewing up his hand. They were both looking in the direction of the front door.
“Who’s here?” I asked groggily.
“I’m not sure,” Caleb said, turning to Joseph. “Are we expecting anyone?”
“No,” his beta answered. “Could it be Daniel?”
“Daniel’s not here?” I asked, looking down at the couch beneath me. I thought I’d been leaning against him.
“He left a little while ago,” Caleb said. “Besides, wouldn’t he have just walked right in without knocking?”
“Yeah,” Joseph said. “He would have.”
Joseph looked down at Caleb’s half-sewn wound like he was trying to figure out if he could pause right there.
“I’ll get it,” I said, pushing to my feet as a second knock sounded.
“But what if—”
“What?” I asked, cutting off Caleb. “What danger are we worried about now? We’re on good terms with the Bears, Lucas has been banished. I
