Chapter 86 The Dauntless Sabrina
While they were whispering, their voice was loud enough for Felicia to hear clearly.
Felicia's expression turned unsightly. She wanted to say something but couldn't bring herself to speak.
She felt that these people were going too far; they didn't even know what she had done to get into the PR Department. Moreover, the department was highly profitable, who wouldn't want to work there?
If a single glance could kill, Felicia would've been killed countless times by those around her.
She had initially wanted to celebrate with everyone since she had successfully entered the PR Department, and everyone had even unwillingly obliged to save her from embarrassment.
Now, knowing what kind of person Felicia was, no one wanted to talk to her. They turned to talk to Sabrina instead.
Sabrina didn't feel a sense of victory, she just found this kind of behavior very annoying.
Why would anyone be willing to stomp on someone else to advance their own position? She didn't understand the logic behind it. She didn't want to escalate the situation further, but Felicia's words and actions crossed the line, which was why she retaliated.
As everyone continued chatting with Sabrina, Felicia turned angrily and left, but no one paid her any attention. They were only interested in socializing with Sabrina.
Once the people around them left, Sabrina finally sighed in relief. She had been unsure of how to deal with the situation earlier.
"Back in college, you were never the type to take a beating easily. I thought you might have toned it down in your professional life, but it seems you're still the same as before," Finnick said, reminiscing their past.
Sabrina was a bit embarrassed, as she had been quite rash during her college years. People used to say that although she had the appearance of an angel, she had the temper of a demon. Now, it seemed that some things hadn't changed, which wasn't entirely a bad thing.
"It wasn't intentional. She just provoked me, and that's why I said those things. Anyway, let's not talk about the past. Let's eat."
Although the past was filled with beautiful memories, bringing it up now made her feel a bit awkward. Sabrina shifted the topic quickly because she noticed Curtis seemed uneasy. Finnick also noticed that Curtis seemed off.
After finishing the meal, Finnick decided to leave. Sabrina stood at the door, preparing to leave. But as she turned, Curtis caught her wrist. Sabrina looked at Curtis with a puzzled expression, not quite understanding what he meant.
"I thought you were going back to work? Go ahead. I'll just take a taxi home," she said.
Sabrina had had a cheerful conversation with another man just a while ago, so why couldn't she talk to him?
"I just wanted to remind you that there's an agreement between us. If my grandfather remains well after a year, our marriage comes to an end. Until then, I don't want any disruptions," Curtis said.
"I know. We both agreed on that, and you can trust that I won't cause any trouble for you this year. Of course, if you want to end this marriage earlier, I have no objections," Sabrina replied.
Sabrina felt that she hadn't been of much help to Curtis so far, while Curtis had been quite helpful to her. She thought her words were harmless, but she noticed that Curtis's expression had become increasingly grim. She was left puzzled about which part of her words had gone wrong.
"It's good that you remember. I'll go now," Curtis said as he turned and walked back to the company.
Sabrina stood there for a while, bewildered, before preparing to head home. After taking a few steps, a car honked at her.
When she turned to look, she was surprised to see Marcus. He had bought an old car to align better with his image.
"Marcus! Fancy seeing you here," she said.
"I was supposed to have dinner with Curtis, but he said he had to work late, so I had dinner with Victor instead. Are you heading back to the villa? I can give you a ride since I was also thinking about checking on Daniel."
Sabrina hesitated for a moment but eventually didn't refuse. After all, Marcus also wanted to check on Daniel, and she didn't want to refuse a ride.
As they got into the car and Marcus drove off, neither of them noticed that a camera had taken a picture of Sabrina getting into the old car.

"I saw you and Curtis earlier. It looked like you were arguing. Did he upset you?" Marcus asked hesitantly on the way.
Sabrina was surprised that Marcus had seen her with Curtis earlier.
"Not really. He just seemed to be in a bad mood today, maybe due to some work pressure. By the way, I've never asked you how the three of you became friends. It's quite unusual to see three people of different characters be such close friends," she said.
The three of them had very different jobs, so logically, they wouldn't have had any interactions. Yet, somehow, they had become friends. Moreover, Sabrina could sense that the other two followed Curtis's lead, and it felt strange.
Marcus hesitated for a moment, unsure of how to answer. He didn't know what Curtis had shared with her, and he didn't want to say something that contradicted Curtis's version.
Sabrina sensed his hesitation and realized something was amiss.
"Well..." Marcus began, but Sabrina interrupted him, saying, "It's okay; I'm just curious. You don't have to say anything if you don't want to. After all..."
Her relationship with Curtis hadn't reached a level where she needed to understand the dynamics between him and his friends.
