Chapter 84 They Make a Perfect Couple

Men with pride understood each other. Marcus knew straight away Curtis was brewing in jealousy after knowing Sabrina was going to dinner with Finnick. "Alright, looks like you still have a lot of work to do, so I won't bother you anymore. I might go check on them instead, perhaps even join them for a meal. I've heard that this lawyer is pretty good. If we become friends, maybe I can get some help with legal issues in the future," Marcus said, appearing genuinely more interested in some gossip. Clearly enjoying the drama that was unfolding, Marcus made his comment and then swiftly left. Meanwhile, Victor remained in the office, sensing the temperature in the room dropping again. He couldn't help but think that their conversation with Curtis might have added fuel to the fire, given Curtis's already sour mood. While Victor couldn't help but complain inwardly, his thoughts drifted to the restaurant downstairs. He was curious about what would transpire between Sabrina and Finnick during their dinner. "Anyway, I won't bother you anymore. It's about time for dinner, and I guess I'll join Marcus," Victor stated and quickly left without checking Curtis's reaction. Curtis lingered in the office, his work progressing at a sluggish pace as impatience grew within him. He let out a sigh, irritated by the fuss surrounding a simple dinner plan. Acknowledging that it was time to eat, he reluctantly gathered his belongings and stood up, heading downstairs. If Victor and Marcus could tap into Curtis's inner musings, they would likely find amusement in the fact that a man known for his unwavering work focus was now inventing intricate pretexts to dine out. Since Barry had not resolved his issues with Ada, he had not contacted Sabrina yet. Regardless, Sabrina was grateful that Finnick was willing to help. Hence, she offered to treat him to a meal even before they had accomplished anything. "You are too courteous. I don't even know if I can help your brother yet, and you're already treating me to dinner. Should I call you extremely honest, or something else?" Finnick, with a hint of a smile and gentleness in his eyes, replied, "No matter what, I appreciate it that you're willing to help. If you can't help, you can treat me to a meal again in the future," Sabrina smiled and said. "Accepted," Finnick replied with a smile. He hoped that this meal would help strengthen their relationship, even if it was just as friends. As they were enjoying their meal and conversation, several employees with name tags entered the restaurant. They were colleagues from their company. Sabrina and Finnick, who didn't interact much with colleagues from different departments, just briefly glanced at them before looking away. The group of coworkers sat nearby. They ordered many dishes and started engaging in a lively conversation. "Did you see that? The guy sitting next to her is our company's new legal consultant. He's young and so handsome." "Looks are not the only thing; his skills are extraordinary. I heard the company offered him a high salary just to get him on board." "Wow, he's not only handsome but also talented. Where can we find a guy like him? And the woman sitting in front of him is so beautiful. They make such a great couple." "Yeah, these days, handsome men are always paired with beautiful women. People like us have no choice but to stay single." Unbeknownst to the gossiping colleagues, Victor and Marcus had entered the restaurant through the back door. They were seated at a distance which allowed them to eavesdrop on the conversation without being noticed. Marcus said in a hushed voice, "I hadn't noticed until they mentioned it, but I have to say, they do look good together. It feels like Curtis is punching above his weight," Marcus said in a hushed voice. "Of course," Victor added. "With his icy personality, it's nothing short of a miracle if someone likes him." As Marcus and Victor continued to comment, Curtis sneezed several times in the elevator. Irritation overcame him. He knew that his two friends were probably gossiping about him behind his back. While Marcus and Victor discussed the situation, they couldn't help but observe Sabrina and Finnick's interactions. They couldn't quite make out the conversation, but it was evident that the atmosphere between the two was quite pleasant. "What should we do now? That guy seems interested in Sabrina, and who knows, he might try to make a move!" Marcus whispered. "I think you're overthinking it. Besides, he doesn't look like the type who would do such a thing. Let's just sit back and enjoy the show. Curtis will handle this. She's his wife, after all," Victor replied. Marcus nodded in agreement. They continued to observe Sabrina and Finnick while ordering their meals. Suddenly, they noticed Curtis entering the restaurant through the front entrance. Marcus and Victor exchanged disdainful looks, finding Curtis's behavior somewhat hypocritical. Just moments ago, Curtis claimed not to care, and now he was eagerly pursuing the matter. After entering the restaurant, Curtis looked around and spotted Marcus and Victor. But he acted as if he hadn't seen them and walked directly to Sabrina and Finnick's table.
