Chapter 83 The Jealous Curtis
"Why do you assume it's related to work?" Curtis inquired. He had full control over company matters and didn't see any problems so far.
Sabrina smiled awkwardly, scratching her head. "I thought you were in a bad mood so I assumed it might have something to do with the company."
"It's not about the company. My mood is just fine, you got it wrong," Curtis replied.
"Oh, okay," Sabrina replied, stopping any further questions as it was obvious that he was in a bad mood.
However, she was aware that, as roommates, they should maintain some boundaries, and she didn't want to pry too much.
When Sabrina had brought up his "bad mood", Curtis had sensed something strange, but now, he felt a tinge of irritation. Why ask and then not inquire further?
Curtis kept silent, but the speed of the car unintentionally increased. Sabrina, feeling anxious, clutched onto something. After seeing Sabrina's reaction, he decided to slow down the car. However, he was still not pleased. Why did she not talk to him about it?
Feeling irritated, Curtis pressed on the accelerator again. Sabrina couldn't bear the fluctuating speed of the car. It was making her terribly uneasy.
When they finally reached Victor's villa, she rushed out of the car and held on to a nearby tree for support. She needed a moment to recover from the heart-pounding journey. It was terrifying, and she felt her legs wobble.
Curtis stepped out of the car. Watching Sabrina hurry away, his expression darkened.
When they entered the villa, they saw Victor there.
Daniel and Victor noticed something was amiss. They exchanged glances, unsure of what the problem might be.
"Perfect timing," Victor said, "I just placed an order, and it'll be here in a bit. Why don't we sit down and chat for a while before dinner?"
Victor smiled as he spoke, and Sabrina greeted them. She put her belongings down, washed her hands, and sat beside Daniel. Curtis, on the other hand, didn't say anything and headed straight for his study.
Everyone was surprised by his reaction, and Daniel and Victor turned their heads to look at Sabrina.
"Don't look at me. I don't know what's going on either. The drive back was a rollercoaster. It almost scared the life out of me." Sabrina shrugged, throwing her hands up in a gesture of helplessness.
*
Curtis's foul mood extended into the next day.
Victor felt like he had stepped into a freezer every time he entered Curtis's office. Curtis sat at his desk radiating an aura of coldness, making everyone tense.
"Is something wrong? You haven't looked right since yesterday."
Victor couldn't take it anymore. He put the documents on the table and sat across from Curtis. He was determined to find out what was bothering Curtis.
"I'm fine," Curtis emphasized, but Victor knew something was amiss.
"Does this have something to do with Sabrina? She was terrified during the drive home yesterday. What happened? Did someone provoke you?"
Victor suspected that Curtis's mood swing was related to Sabrina. Whenever Curtis had emotional fluctuations, it had something to do with her, but this time, he had no idea what was happening.
Curtis lifted his gaze and ignored Victor as he continued to work.
Just then, Marcus entered the office.
"Why are you still sitting here?" Marcus exclaimed. "I saw Sabrina heading out to dinner with our company's legal consultant. They've known each other much longer than you. You better be careful or you might lose your wife."
Marcus seemed concerned but hadn't noticed the unusual atmosphere in the office.
Victor, on the other hand, noticed the change in Curtis' expression when Marcus mentioned Sabrina and the legal consultant, confirming that his bad mood was indeed related to Sabrina.
"I saw them chatting and laughing, so something is definitely up. If you don't want to move, I can go check it out," Marcus added, his eyes gleaming with curiosity.
Marcus wanted to help Curtis figure out what was happening, but he was also eager to get some gossip. Victor had now understood why Curtis had been in such a low mood today.
"Are you jealous?" Victor's blurted all of a sudden.
Curtis and Marcus turned to look at Victor. Curtis's face darkened, and Marcus's curiosity became even more apparent.
"What's going on? Tell me what's happening. How did it escalate to jealousy?" Marcus asked.
"If you have nothing better to do, you should go back to delivering your parcels. Don't bother me here!" Curtis snapped.
Marcus wasn't afraid of Curtis's temper at this point. If Curtis was now feeling jealous, it could mean that he might need his help in the future.
"Last night when he and Sabrina returned together, he already had this long face. I was wondering what went wrong, but now I know it's because Sabrina is having dinner with her senior from college. It's just normal social interaction. There's no need to overreact," Victor said
After hearing this, Curtis couldn't help but laugh, though there was a hint of bitterness in his laughter.
"Do I need you telling me all this? I already knew she was going to have dinner with that guy last night. You can all go now, okay?"
