Chapter 76 Barry Ran Away

As Sabrina's face wore a troubled expression, Curtis approached her with concern. "What's wrong? Did you recall something?" "I'm thinking whether Barry or Ada might have taken the deed, but why would they take it?" Sabrina pondered aloud. Curtis took a moment to consider and then said with a solemn tone, "Someone who has the deed could do many things, say for example, sell the house." "But even if they wanted to sell the house, they would need my consent. How could they possibly do it without my approval?" "Have you considered that they might have used the deed as collateral or for a loan?" Curtis's words left Sabrina startled. She was reluctant to admit it, but she had to acknowledge the possibility. "Are you saying that they...?" Sabrina's voice quivered, unable to admit the frightening possibility. If it were true, what foolish deeds had Barry been up to? "These are just my speculations. Don't get too worked up. I'll have the security team search the house for the deed. Maybe you simply forgot it that day." Curtis's comforting words helped Sabrina regain her composure. She couldn't help but wonder if she had indeed forgotten it. However, deep down, Sabrina knew that this possibility was exceedingly slim. They didn't inform Daniel about the matter as they didn't want to startle the old man. Curtis promptly arranged for the security team to conduct a thorough search. Sabrina was on edge until the next day when she received a message from the security team, stating that they had failed to locate the deed. Infuriated, Sabrina knew she had to confront Barry at the hospital after her work hours. Her emotions were unstable that morning, and even Daniel could sense her anger, but he wisely refrained from probing further. During the commute to the office, Curtis observed Sabrina's silence and her intense expression. It looked like she was on a mission to draw blood. "Try not to assume the worst. Maybe it was just a casual remark on my part. Barry must still care about you and Parker. He wouldn't do anything nefarious with the deed." In the past, Sabrina might have believed Curtis, but her brother had changed so much that she could hardly recognize him now. "You know, you were never one to speak kindly of others. But in any case, I have eyes and can judge for myself. That day, my brother and I had an argument on the phone, and you're aware of that. There's definitely something fishy going on!" Sabrina's tone was resolute, and Curtis didn't argue further. Regardless of what was said, it was all speculation until they had evidence. As usual, Sabrina exited the car at her usual stop. Perhaps her visibly troubled expression deterred anyone from provoking her that day, and work proceeded smoothly. However, this smooth day was disrupted as it neared its end. Sabrina felt that her life had become extremely miserable lately. She had never experienced such a string of misfortunes, and now they all seemed to be piling up. A call came from the hospital. It startled her. Could something have happened to Parker? She took a deep breath and answered the call. "Hello, Sabrina. Your brother, Barry, left the hospital this afternoon, and we've been searching for him all day without success, so we decided to call you." Hearing this news, Sabrina's anger surged. He had disappeared in the afternoon, and they were only notifying her now? A lot could have happened during that time. "A patient disappeared, and you didn't think to notify me earlier? Why did you wait until now to call me? Anything could have happened during this time!" Her brother was still injured, so where could he go? This was a really awkward situation for the hospital. They tried their best to calm Sabrina down. "We're sorry. But as soon as we realized your brother was missing, we immediately organized a search. Perhaps you could consider reporting it to the police." Of course, she had to report it. If she didn't, how would she find him? Sabrina gathered her belongings, irritated, and left the office. As she left, she gave Curtis a call. At that moment, Curtis was in a meeting, but he paused the discussion when he saw Sabrina's call. "Something's wrong, Curtis. My brother left the hospital this afternoon, and I just received a call from them. I'm heading to the hospital now." "Your brother left the hospital?" This news took Curtis by surprise. Sabrina was furious, and Curtis knew that. She was probably wondering what her brother was up to. However, now was not the time for such discussions; they needed to find him as soon as possible. "Take a moment to calm down. I'll have Marcus accompany you to the hospital," Curtis offered. "Are you sure about this? Marcus has work to do. I hate to burden him." Sabrina was hesitant to trouble others with her problems, but Curtis's insistence left no room for argument. He made it clear that Sabrina had to have Marcus accompany her to the hospital. With no other option, Sabrina waited downstairs for Marcus to arrive. It seemed Marcus was working nearby, as he showed up in his work attire, driving a rather battered car. "Come on, Sabrina!" Marcus called out as he parked by the roadside. Sabrina spotted his car and rushed over. Marcus handled the wheel skillfully, rushing them to the hospital. Along the way, he felt like he was sitting next to an air conditioner emitting a constant chill, causing him to shiver. He had previously assumed that Curtis was the one who emanated a frosty aura, but today, he realized that there was no exception to the "family traits." Sabrina's icy demeanor was just as potent as Curtis's. "Let's try to stay calm. Curtis told me on the phone about your brother leaving the hospital. I've already notified our company, and our delivery drivers are spread out, so there's a possibility they might come across your brother while they're on their routes." Seeing Sabrina's terrible mood, Marcus tried to calm her. Her voice retained a frigid tone, but she did manage a brief "Thank you" before heading to the doctor responsible for Barry's ward. "What happened exactly? I want to see the surveillance footage from this afternoon." Ordinarily, accessing surveillance footage wouldn't be straightforward, but since the hospital was at fault in this instance, they couldn't decline her request.
