Chapter 72 Help Her Out
The crowd did not know what exactly was their conversation, but at some point, Aaron suddenly got incensed enough that he slapped Ada across her cheek.
It was explosive. Completely unexpected.
Of course, Ada wasn't one to back down either. After being struck by Aaron, without a second thought, she retaliated with a swift kick.
Just moments ago, they had momentarily paused their altercation due to the persuasion of onlookers, but now, thanks to Aaron's aggressive move, they were once again engaged in a public brawl.
They fought harder and harder. Fiercer and fiercer.
The crowd could no longer broker a ceasefire. Someone called the cops. It took a security guard to break these two apart.
Sabrina watched from her spot. She enjoyed it—seeing two of the people she hated beating each other up was a catharsis.
A police car arrived soon enough. Both were taken to the station. Sabrina had no idea what came after—all she could remember was how much fun she had, seeing these two making a fool out of themselves. She resumed her journey to her office with a little skip.
Her colleagues were looking at her weirdly today. They stared at her silently while she ignored them and sat behind her desk. Felicia's desk was empty, she noticed. Even her person was absent.
"Felicia's one of the PR gang now. They had to call the boss multiple times just to get her transferred over," Nina explained. Now that Aaron was out of the picture, her interaction with Sabrina had become so much cordial—even if it was superficial.
"I saw Aaron just now on my way here. He was arguing with this woman and then he slapped her. They got into a fight and socked each other in the face so hard. Damn, I loved seeing it! So much!" Nina continued in dark glee. The man conned her heart and cost her reputation within her office; it was only normal that she would bear a dissolvable grudge against him.
Sabrina realized belatedly why everyone was looking at her like that when she first showed up. It was because of Aaron's commotion.
"I don't know what they were talking about, but seeing him being punched in the face just made me feel so good!" Nina continued with a hearty cackle, ignoring the looks her colleagues threw her. "He deserved it! He took me for an idiot, didn't he? Well, I hope he rots in jail for a long time!"
The rest of the office shuddered. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned indeed.
Their biggest point of intrigue, though, was Sabrina's thoughts. Unfortunately for all of them, she had no opinion to add. She simply went straight to work. It was as anticlimactic as it came.

The police station was thrown into chaos.
Both parties had suffered injuries from their fight. Aaron's face was marred with nail scratches. Ada was pale, her arms hugging her stomach. Despite that, those two shot daggers at each other as though they were going to tear the other wide apart.
The policeman was rather pissed to be handling a dispute this early in the day. "Can't y'all just talk things out like civil people for one minute? Why did you have to punch each other like that?!"
Ada and Aaron leaped to their feet and began talking up a storm about how bad their lives had been and how much horror the other had put each other through. It was a he said, she said situation.
At some point, it even felt as though they were describing two completely different events. It took a discerning listener to realize it was the same event told from two incredibly different perspectives.
The police could not make heads or tails about it. In the end, defeated, they decided to separate those two for interrogation. Since their fight had caused no collateral damage, it seemed like an easy enough problem to solve.
As it turned out, the fight stemmed from a misunderstanding. Ada suspected Aaron to have stolen something from her. Aaron, in his part, claimed that Ada scammed him in love. They both held a grudge against each other—which was why their unexpected encounter turned out this way. It was especially since both sides believed the other was being unreasonable.
The police did not know how to handle them, so they fell back onto state procedures. "Call your loved one and tell them to collect you from here, right now. Do not ever fight in public like this anymore, okay? You're adults, you know? Have some class."
The two lowered their heads despite still nursing the desire to break every bone in the other's body.
Ada had no one to call, so in the end, she had to ask Sabrina for help.
The call shocked Sabrina. She had no idea Ada would call her for this.
