Chapter 19 Evidence Courtesy of Nina

Thank goodness Sabrina still kept the photos Nina had maliciously sent her earlier. Without them, it would all just be baseless back and forth. When Aaron saw Sabrina's newfound confidence, doubt began to creep into his mind. Did she really have incriminating evidence against him? "I came here out of respect for our relationship," Aaron retorted defiantly, "but you seem to think you're in a position to embarrass me. Whatever 'proof' you're talking about, they're nothing but fabrications!" As the drama unfolded, some spectators who initially sided with Aaron began to reconsider. If he was truly innocent, why was he obsessively defending himself? If the evidence was fake, Aaron could have simply presented real proof rather than becoming more agitated. The crowd started whispering amongst themselves. "Rumor has it that Nina has her claws on multiple people in the administration department as well. But to know that she would resort to such tactics against her own best friend? Tsk tsk!" "Is Nina jealous because Sabrina outshines her? She and Aaron seem cut from the same cloth. They're probably better off together so they'll stop ruining innocent people's lives." "How shameless! Aaron brings disgrace to all men. Where are the security guards? Someone should have them throw him out already!" As people began to complain, not only about Aaron's embarrassing behavior but also about the damage he was causing to the company's image, it became evident that his plan to turn public opinion against Sabrina had backfired spectacularly. Instead of garnering sympathy and putting Sabrina's job in jeopardy, he found himself drowning in a sea of ridicule. Seizing the moment, Sabrina boldly declared, "I have multiple pictures, all sent by a primary source. Given the explicit nature of these photos, one can only imagine the extent of the 'activities' the two of you engaged in." The crowd erupted in murmurs in response to her statement. The audacity of sharing such explicit photos only further exposed Aaron and Nina's recklessness. "I knew it! They're not as innocent as they pretend to be. Doing such things secretly is one thing, but taking photos and leaking them just to spite Sabrina?" "Maybe they should show everyone just how shameless they truly are." "Touche." The crowd's murmurs grew heated, their scrutinizing gazes focused on Aaron, making him squirm under the pressure. Overwhelmed by the mounting embarrassment, he burst out, "Fine, you win this time!" Maintaining her composure, Sabrina responded, "Consider this your one and only warning. If you ever dare to make a scene at my workplace again, I won't hesitate to expose all the dirty secrets you and Nina share. If you have no regard for your own reputation, then consider my words meaningless." Confidently, she turned and walked back into the lift lobby while signaling for the security team to escort Aaron out of the building. Realizing the situation had spiraled out of his control, Aaron made a hasty retreat. Instead of landing Sabrina in hot water, he found himself the subject of public scorn. Worse yet, he was threatened with proof of his infidelity, and he could not even refute her because everything she claimed was the undeniable truth. * The commotion Aaron created in the lobby did not go unnoticed by Curtis and Victor. They were alerted the moment Aaron set foot in the company. Because of this, Victor had the unique opportunity to witness the subtle shifts in Curtis's expressions. He had always believed the relationship between Curtis and Sabrina was nothing more than a business partnership, nothing more. However, when Aaron arrived, Curtis's expression turned sour and dark. For those who didn't know any better, they might have thought that his arch-enemy had arrived. Recalling a recent conversation, Victor mused, "When I spoke to Sabrina recently, I felt a certain distance between you two. I assumed it was mutual. But today, my perspective has changed. Do you have deeper feelings for her?" Victor was not usually one for gossip, but Curtis being the center of one made it irresistible. Annoyed, Curtis replied, "If you think it's so simple, perhaps you should handle these matters for me. And as for my relationship with Sabrina, you're overanalyzing it." "Am I?" Victor challenged, "Your demeanor changed when Aaron showed up. If I weren't here, would you have rushed down and given him another beating?" Curtis shot him a sharp look. "Shouldn't someone like him get what he deserves? Besides, regardless of the exact nature of my relationship with Sabrina, she is currently my wife in name. If I don't defend her honor against other men, I'd be less than ordinary." With a hint of amusement, Victor responded, "Come on, since when have you ever been 'ordinary'? What 'ordinary' person proposes marriage when the other party is still reeling from shock?" It became apparent that Victor was more informed than Curtis had anticipated. "Hey, don’t glare at me like that. Even if I hadn’t actively sought out the information, your grandpa would've told me." So, Daniel had spilled the beans. Curtis couldn't help but feel a touch of irritation. Even at his workplace, Daniel's influence was inescapable. "Didn’t you notice," Victor continued in a serious tone, "that since your wedding, your grandpa's health has improved significantly, and he seems much happier? I think your decision to marry was the right one." He had visited Daniel recently and witnessed the old man’s remarkable recovery. Curtis admitted, "That's because he has always adored Sabrina and has always wanted her as his granddaughter-in-law." It made sense. Having his wish granted, how could Daniel not be elated? Victor gave Curtis a probing look. Deep down, he felt that Curtis might, sooner than expected, find himself wrapped up in this relationship that started as a mere agreement.
