Chapter 20 The Root of All Problems Was Sabrina

News of Aaron's outburst spread rapidly throughout the company, and it quickly became the talk of every department. Before long, Sabrina and Nina, alongside Aaron, became the faces of this scandal. It shocked everyone that Nina, who had always come across as professional and composed, was involved in such a scandal. She now faced ridicule everywhere she went, even for basic tasks like delivering documents. Was Aaron out of his mind, causing such a scene at the office? She seethed with anger, regretting her rash decision to send those photos to Sabrina. It just never crossed her mind that Sabrina would actually keep them as evidence. What an idiot she was for handing over the evidence on a silver platter! Boiling with anger, Nina returned to her department to grab a cup of water and calm herself down. When she spotted Sabrina chatting happily with some colleagues, Nina flipped. She could not stand the radiant smile on Sabrina's face. Why, she wondered, was she dragged into Sabrina and Aaron's mess? Acting on impulse, she stormed up to Sabrina, grabbed her arm, pulled her aside, and doused her face with the water. Everything happened so quickly that nobody, especially Sabrina, had the time to react. A drenched Sabrina, after a momentary shock, retaliated with a slap across Nina’s face. Her gaze was icy and domineering, causing Nina to flinch involuntarily. "Have you lost your mind?" Felicia rushed to Sabrina's side and shielded her while glaring angrily at Nina. Still riled up, Nina burst out loud, "Before blaming me, why not ask her what she did with Aaron? Why am I being dragged into their mess?" Dumbfounded by Nina's audacity, Sabrina couldn't help but think, 'How can she claim there’s nothing between her and Aaron? These ludicrous words coming from her mouth are laughable. If there was truly nothing, where did the pictures in her possession come from?' It was clear to everyone that Nina's emotional outburst was a result of Aaron's antics and her subsequent embarrassment. Sabrina’s ability to maintain her composure in the face of such confrontation was commendable. "As I mentioned to Aaron downstairs," Sabrina said in a cold tone, "if you're trying to pick a fight with me, I don’t mind it, but I'll be the first to show everyone your obscene photos." This was an open threat. Nina had always portrayed herself as a pure, kind, and generous girl in the company. If those photos came to light, she would lose not just her reputation, but also potentially face disdain from everyone, putting her job in jeopardy. "Sabrina, you wouldn't dare!" Nina challenged. Sabrina fired back, "Why wouldn’t I? You had the audacity to engage in shameless deeds with Aaron and then send photos to me. I’m simply responding in kind." As she wiped her face, Sabrina couldn't help but notice the growing crowd, which only heightened her agitation. It was true what they say: good news stays silent, but bad news travels fast. Today, because of Aaron's spectacle, not only Nina was affected, but Sabrina also felt the repercussions. "You need to keep Aaron in check and stop provoking me. If either one of you tries to pull something funny again, you know what's coming for you,” Sabrina warned. Sabrina returned to her desk and resumed her work after speaking her mind. Meanwhile, under the watchful eyes of many onlookers, Nina stood trembling with rage. This entire episode had been a total failure on her part. She had initially thought that being with Aaron would grant her a life superior to Sabrina's. But now, she realized she had been daydreaming all along. If Aaron could create a scene at the office just to humiliate Sabrina, then who was to say he would not do the same to her one day? Aaron should not have been like this. He should have been clean-cut, bright, and gentlemanly. But his recent actions bore no resemblance to a gentleman. Where had it all gone wrong? Suddenly, a realization dawned on Nina. Everything that led her to this point was because of Sabrina. If Sabrina had not escalated things and provoked Aaron, today's scene would not have occurred. Thus, in her mind, the root of all problems was Sabrina. Filled with deep resentment, Nina took a deep breath and settled back into her seat. Since Sabrina had chosen to make things ugly for her, she would not be kind to Sabrina either. Both women, now the focal points of office gossip, returned to their tasks. Eager coworkers covertly shared updates on the drama through their phones. Sabrina sensed the buzz around her but as long as no one mentioned it to her face, she chose to turn a blind eye. Unbeknownst to Sabrina, Nina's bitterness grew. Had Sabrina been privy to this, she would have scoffed at Nina's misplaced animosity. Challenging Sabrina without grasping the whole situation seemed almost comical. As Sabrina's workday drew to a close, she unexpectedly ran into Victor while waiting for her bus home. "What a coincidence! Just got off work? How about a ride home?" Victor, usually more reserved, was evidently keen to delve into the day's events and saw this as an opportune moment. With a polite smile, Sabrina declined the offer. "I appreciate it, but I'll take the bus. Please don't go out of your way for me." She thought, 'He's essentially my husband's boss. How could I let him be my chauffeur?' Just as Victor was gearing up for more conversation, his phone buzzed. Seeing Curtis's name on his screen, he internally groaned at the interruption. "Well, alright then. I have some work matters to attend to. Perhaps we can chat another time," Victor conceded. Sabrina smiled in response, secretly hoping their interactions would remain limited. After all, it was better to keep some distance from higher-ups outside the office. Just as Victor departed, another car pulled up in front of Sabrina.
