Chapter 166 I Will Help You
Eager to resolve the situation, Barry did not refuse the responsibility. However, considering his current physical condition and the injury, he knew he had to wait until he was better before taking any action.
That evening, since Curtis was injured, the family meal was kept light and suitable for someone recovering from an injury. Marcus and Victor had other matters to attend to, so they left after dropping Sabrina and Curtis off.
After dinner, Sabrina cleaned up the living room, a task she usually shared with Curtis. Initially, Curtis was unfamiliar with household chores, but after sharing responsibilities with Sabrina, he became more adept. Daniel had even commented on how Curtis was becoming a more domesticated man, a change that pleased and satisfied him.
In the past, Curtis was simply a workaholic robot, akin to a purposeless machine. Now, Curtis had the ability to live life sincerely, and it brought great joy and satisfaction to Daniel.
Daniel believed that humans should live as humans do, while embracing a range of emotions from joy and anger to sorrow and happiness. Whether it was in life or work, one should always express themselves authentically, rather than behaving like a machine. He was happy to see that Curtis was becoming more positively human.
After her shower, Sabrina found Curtis on the couch, looking lost in thought, his injuries preventing him from bathing or working. She approached him, concern evident in her voice. "Would you like to take a bath?"
Curtis was yearning for a shower but was hindered by his injuries. He could not ask Barry, who was dealing with his own injuries, for help. And he certainly could not approach Daniel or Parker for assistance.
"It's okay, I'll manage. They probably have their own things to attend to," Curtis assured, reluctant to trouble anyone.
Sabrina hesitated for a moment, contemplating the conditions of Parker and Daniel. Both were in poor health and certainly didn't have the physical strength to help Curtis with his shower. As for her brother, he was also going through a tough time. So, it seemed like it was up to Sabrina.
"It's no problem. I'll help you. You can trust me. I won't blabber about anything you don't want me to," Sabrina offered with a comforting hug. Curtis sensed something unusual but could not pinpoint what it was.
A few moments later, Sabrina walked into the room, holding a towel. Curtis, caught off guard with his back turned, quickly covered his private areas with his hands.
"Relax, it's okay. We're practically sisters. Even though we're different physically, our sexual preferences in partners are alike. You can trust me. If you have a crush on someone, let me know, and I'll make sure they're looked after until you're ready to address it," Sabrina comforted him gently.
Curtis, after hearing Sabrina's words, furrowed his brows and twitched a bit. 'What does she mean by our sexual preferences are alike? I'm sure she's interested in men, so does that mean she thinks I like men too?' he wondered.
"What exactly do you mean by our preferences being alike?" Curtis inquired, striving to stay composed and avoid showing his bewilderment and anger. This revelation was too obvious to ignore.
Sabrina elaborated, "Well, isn't it true? It's just that you two seem really close, you know? Marcus mentioned your long-standing friendship since high school. It's great to have feelings for someone, and it can lead to wonderful possibilities."
Sabrina's thoughts drifted. 'Curtis might not be ready to open up about his feelings for Victor, but that's okay. I've promised to support him, and I'll stand by that promise.'
"Don't worry, I'm a person of my word. Just be patient, and everything will work out in your favor."
Curtis, increasingly unsettled by Sabrina's comments, took a deep breath to calm himself. Now he understood why Sabrina seemed so nonchalant—she had assumed all along that he liked men.
"Now, now. Don't be shy. We're practically sisters! Let me help you with your bath," Sabrina said, attempting to pull Curtis toward the bathroom.
But for Curtis, this was too much. He could not stand the thought of Sabrina helping him bathe, especially under her misguided assumptions about his sexuality.
Curtis pushed her away and left. He would rather skip bathing today than let Sabrina assist him with his bath. Needing to clarify this misunderstanding, Curtis left the room to call Marcus and find out what exactly he had told Sabrina.
After Curtis left the room, Sabrina was a bit surprised at his shyness. She thought she had a good understanding of his feelings and considered their close relationship as 'sisters,' not to mention their marriage, enough for her to offer help. She shrugged off his reaction, assuming he was just embarrassed.
She did not pay much attention to what Curtis would do next. After all, Curtis was an adult, and he could make his own decisions. With that in mind, Sabrina tidied up a bit and prepared to go to bed without Curtis.
Meanwhile, Curtis retreated to the guest bedroom, opting to spend the night there. Despite his discomfort, the misunderstanding about his sexual orientation bothered him deeply. His mind clouded with frustration as he pondered over when and how this confusion had started.
