Chapter 179 Copied Lindsey’s Tone
The doctor said that with some trepidation. Zayn looked at Lindsey and remembered that he used to knock on Lindsey’s door at night for a long time before she would open it. His gaze was fixated on the person lying in bed like he was memorizing every detail of that sleeping face, etching it deep into his heart. After a long time, he suddenly let out a helpless laugh.
The people next to him did not know the reason for his sudden outburst, but they felt a sense of relief.
Zayn waved his hand to signal for them to leave and sat down on the edge of the bed to hold Lindsey’s hand. He had not seen Lindsey in days and had missed her dearly. When he heard that she came to the hot springs, he followed her over and even met Shaun Juhl.
When he thought of Shaun, there was hatred in Zayn’s eyes.
The resort manager had prepared a separate place for him and treated this boss with the best care.
At that time, a light knock came from outside the door.
Zayn pulled the quilt over Lindsey’s body before he got up to open it.
The person standing at the door was Allie Wilford.
As soon as the door opened, Allie asked, "Zayn Guggenheim, is Lindsey here with you?"
She was wearing a snow-white bathrobe that exposed her fair delicate calves at the hem. She was wearing flip-flops that showed off her cute little toes.
Allie also learned from Lindsey's tone of calling Zayn by his full name, but Zayn frowned slightly. His name should not be called by just anyone and he did not like that the woman in front of him even copied Lindsey's tone.
"What do you want?" Zayn's sharp eyes fell on her and his voice was tinged with a bit of impatience.
Allie felt the man's displeasure and his deep eyes that were staring at her gave her the chills. She was suddenly at a loss and lowered her head, pretending to be bashful as she explained, "I'm a bit scared to sleep alone at night, so I want Lindsey to accompany me."
This timid look coupled with a pitiful expression was very seductive. Admittedly, Allie was exceptional in both her figure and looks. Her beauty was not over the top, so it was easy to win over others.
Although she was trying to seduce him, with that expression on her face, it made people think that she did not do it on purpose and was truly scared.
Unfortunately, the man she met was Zayn Guggenheim.
"She's asleep. Ms. Wilford, you can get the staff to keep you company if you’re scared."
Zayn did not have the slightest bit of sympathy for Allie. After he finished his sentence, he closed the door in her face and did not care how the person standing at the door looked.
Allie's nose was almost hit by the door. Seeing the tightly closed door, the smile on her face turned into resentment for a moment.
She even felt that Zayn’s attitude was so indifferent only because Lindsey was not really asleep and that he was just putting on an act for Lindsey.
Allie did not believe that there would be such a faithful man in this world.
She felt humiliated after being rejected by Zayn so many times, but this further stimulated her determination to subjugate him.
Fortunately, she had already found an excuse to disperse the staff in the vicinity so that no one saw her humiliation.
Back in the room, Zayn turned off all the lights and left only a small night light on the bed before going to the bathroom.
After he came out of the bathroom, Zayn gently laid down next to Lindsey. The person on the bed was drowsy and seemed to feel the warmth beside her, so she moved over slightly and rolled right into Zayn's arms.
Lindsey subconsciously stirred in his arms and Zayn was slightly aroused by her movements. However, seeing her sleepy face, Zayn thought that it would be nice to just hold her like this without doing anything.
After all this while, the two of them rarely seemed to lie in bed so calmly without doing anything, just leaning against each other with their breaths in sync and bodies intertwined.
At some point, the sun rose.
The sunlight shone through the gaps in the curtains and gently kissed Lindsey's cheeks, waking her up from her dream.
Lindsey had not completely woken up yet. She reached out to rub her sleepy eyes and muttered in a low voice, "Allie, why didn't you wake me up?"
She did not know where she was, but when she sat up and saw her surroundings, she realized that it did not seem to be the same room she had stayed in last night and Allie was nowhere to be found.
Lindsey was startled and her first reaction was to check her body. After she made sure that she was properly dressed and had no other sensations on her body, she felt at ease.
Her mind was completely awake by then and the memories of last night were coming back to her.
Lindsey surveyed her surroundings. So, was this Shaun's room?
Her eyes suddenly landed on the piece of paper by the bed.
She reached out to take it and saw there were only a few sentences on it. The harsh penmanship gave her a vague sense of familiarity.
The note read, “Get something to eat and go out for a walk. You’ll get tired easily the more you sleep. Remember to take someone with you when you go into the water and don’t soak for too long. Eat on time.”
The penmanship was so arrogant, but the written words were so naggy.
Lindsey stared at the note dumbfounded for a while. She then regained composure and went to wash up.
As if someone had calculated the time, just when she finished washing up, a voice came from outside.
"Ms. Juhl, your breakfast is ready."
She pulled the door open and a few waiters came in with trays in hand. They placed the items down in a well-trained manner before leaving.
Lindsey pulled one of the last ones and asked, "Excuse me, when did the guest in this room arrive and leave?"
The waiter froze for a moment before saying, "I think he came last night after 9:00 pm, but I'm not sure exactly what time he left."
"Okay, thank you."
Lindsey thought, ‘9:00 pm...at that time I was still chatting with Shaun, but why didn't I recall anything about Zayn being there?’
Her heart was in ripples, but she did not want to think much about it because her stomach was growling. She waited until she had filled her stomach before she went looking for Allie.
It was a rare clear morning sky at the hot springs resort. Lindsey did not ask anyone to lead the way and walked over based on yesterday's memory. Unexpectedly when she arrived, Allie seemed to be on a call in the room and sounded like she was quarreling with someone because her tone was agitated.
"I always get what I want!"
Lindsey only heard this sentence. She never knew that Allie, who only knew how to fool around, would have such a stubborn side to her.
Allie's tone was not pleasant and even a little vicious, which stunned Lindsey a little.
As soon as Lindsey approached, the woman standing at the door bowed slightly and greeted her. "Ms. Juhl."
Inside the room, Allie's voice instantly disappeared.
