Chapter 178 What Are You Mad About Again?

When Lindsey saw Shaun, he was wearing a bathrobe and was sitting at an outdoor garden set waiting for her. "Brother, I thought you already left." Shaun raised his hand to signal for her to take a seat and gave her a cup of flower tea before he said unhurriedly, "The client said he wanted to stay, so I followed suit." Lindsey picked up the tea he just poured and took a sip. The temperature was just right, but after drinking it, there was a lingering sweetness in her mouth that would not go away for a long time. It seemed like a girly drink, but it was a little too sweet for her. "This is the tea from the resort, I added two more cubes of sugar. How does it taste? Is it good?" Shaun looked at her with some expectation. Lindsey smiled and nodded her head. She did not have the heart to tell Shaun that flower tea itself was already sweet enough, so there was no need to add more sugar. Seeing her smile, Shaun also revealed a contented smile. Lindsey did not dare to look at him directly, so she looked up at the starry sky. When Shaun saw Lindsey staring at the night sky, he suddenly said, "Do you remember when you first came to the house, you also liked to look at the sky and stars in the backyard? I even asked you why at the time." After he mentioned it, Lindsey also recalled that there was such a thing. Back then, she was just adopted by the Juhls. She was so young, but she already had anxiety before she even knew what it was. She was constantly afraid that she would make "mommy and daddy" angry and get kicked out of the house. Thus, she was very obedient, and even a bit ingratiating. "So what did I say?" Lindsey was also interested and had some anticipation in her eyes. In fact, she did not remember much about the time when she was first taken back to the Juhls, but she retained her first memories of Shaun, who was so warm and gentle. After all these years, he still had not changed one bit. Shaun remembered it more clearly than she did and said with a smile, "You said gods are living on the stars and you wanted to see if they would show themselves." After he finished, he laughed and said, "I was thinking how silly my new sister was. She’s so old yet she still believes that gods are living in the sky." Lindsey also laughed when she listened to his words, but her laughter gradually became lighter and finally condensed into a faint smile. If Shaun had not mentioned it, she would have almost forgotten that these words had sustained her for a long time, and the person who told her those words was Zayn Guggenheim. Other memories were more memorable, so it seemed that these words slowly faded in her mind. There were no gods in this world. It was a mere illusion born from people in a desperate situation struggling to seek that ray of hope. Nonetheless, it was always good to have hope. Shaun did not notice the changes in her and was talking about another memory from her childhood, which made Lindsey a little nostalgic. Lindsey looked at the night sky as she sat in the wooden rocking chair. The stars in the sky were bright and glimmering. Lindsey would respond to Shaun's words from time to time, but suddenly, sleepiness came over her and her eyelids felt heavy. She had always felt tired easily, but she felt that her weariness came more quickly tonight. Shaun saw that she was a little sleepy and leaned over to her. His lips were almost brushing her ears. The starry sky brought on a romantic atmosphere as he said, “Linds, what’s that smell on you? It’s really nice.” This scene in the eyes of others looked like a pair of young lovers who were kissing. If it was another person who said this, Lindsey would have thought that he was flirting with her, but because it was Shaun, she did not think much of it. Her mind was already in a daze as tiredness surged in her. Her voice was sweet and soft as she said, “Probably the bath products.” Shaun laughed lightly and raised his hand to gently tuck a strand of Lindsey's hair behind her ears. At that moment, a sound came from behind him. "Mr. Guggenheim, there are other guests in this room, so I can arrange another place for you." The person who spoke was the resort manager and his voice was slightly anxious. Shaun raised his head and he met Zayn’s eyes. The coldness in those eyes grew colder when Zayn saw the person next to Shaun. It was like a blizzard that froze everything in its path. The manager thought he would become collateral damage and shrank to the side to reduce his presence. Shaun remained in his posture and was not fazed by Zayn’s presence. He even unhurriedly stroked Lindsey’s forehead. However, before he could withdraw his hand, he was kicked to the ground along with his chair. No one saw how Zayn got there because he moved incredibly fast. Shaun did not expect Zayn to suddenly strike. The moment he landed on the ground, he did a roll and immediately stood up, but his snow-white bathrobe instantly became dirty and disheveled. "Zayn Guggenheim! What are you mad about again?" The warmth on Shaun's face was wiped clean. Zayn was fuming and simply ignored him. His eyes fell on the unconscious Lindsey. Lindsey did not even react to their commotion earlier, so when he saw her closed eyes, Zayn’s wrath suddenly had nowhere to go and vanished into thin air. He leaned down and picked her up, then glared at Shaun with cold eyes. "What did you do to her?" Shaun saw the unconscious Lindsey in Zayn’s arms and felt that something was wrong. He subconsciously looked towards the teapot. Zayn followed his gaze and the bitter coldness in his eyes intensified. "If anything happens to her, I'll kill you!" After he said that, Zayn carried Lindsey and strode away without a care of the expressions of those present. Shaun's chest was heaving violently and his hand that hung at his side clenched into a fist. The next moment, the man viciously slammed the teapot from the round table to the ground, shattering it to pieces. His raging eyes swept over the crowd as he said, "Who did this?! Come out now!" Shaun only came to this hot springs resort because Allie told him that Lindsey would be here. Allie was just creating opportunities for him, but he never once thought of drugging Lindsey. If there was really a problem with the tea, then besides him, the resort staff would be most suspicious. The people in front of him lowered their heads and trembled, not daring to speak. Shaun was adamant to find out who drugged Lindsey. On the other hand, Lindsey's unconscious appearance deeply affected Zayn's heart, but the doctor could not find anything wrong with her. The doctor looked at Zayn's grim face and said apprehensively, "Mr. Guggenheim, your wife seems to have just fallen asleep."
