Chapter 128 Marriage Pressure
Lu En lounged back in the armchair. "You should find someone soon too. You're so outstanding, there must be plenty of men who are compatible with you. You have to try more. How do you know who's best for you if you don't try?"
Sanila looked at him quietly, her eyes full of hidden affection. "You're something else. I just came home a few days ago, and my mom has been pressuring me to get married. I barely got a breather, and now you're pressuring me too. Did you two plan this together?"
Lu En replied calmly, "I know you're like me in the past, not wanting to get married. But if you meet someone you truly love, you'll want to get married."
Sanila sighed, feeling discouraged. "But how am I supposed to just stumble upon that kind of thing?"
"So you have to try," Lu En said.
"What are you two talking about?" Charlotte walked over with her daughter in her arms, smiling.
"We're talking about some work-related matters. He sees how happy we are now, so I told him to find a boyfriend too," Lu En said without hesitation.
Charlotte understood the mentality of young people nowadays very well.
Nine out of ten don't want to get married, and the one who does is usually pressured into it.
If you can find someone who treats you well, then it's okay. But if you end up with someone like Frank again, it would leave a shadow for life.
It might be better to stay single.
Charlotte comforted, "Marriage isn't something that can happen just because you're pressured. You have to take it slow."
Sanila looked at them enviously. "Then I wish I could find someone I like soon, just like you two."
When Sanila said this, she was actually bleeding inside. She pretended to be casual sitting next to them, but she felt uncomfortable all over.
If it weren't for not wanting Charlotte to suspect her, she wouldn't want to pretend anymore.
The man she had loved for so many years suddenly became someone else's as soon as she returned. Who could bear that?
Sanila thought Lu En would never get married in his life. A few years ago, his mother wanted to match them up, but she refused.
If she had agreed back then, she wouldn't be seeing someone else now.
Hearing her deeply loved man saying he liked another woman was undoubtedly a blow to her.
But she had to sit here gracefully and continue chatting with them.
Lu En pursed his lips. "Why don't you stay for dinner tonight? It's rare to meet like this, and you'll have to listen to less nagging if you go back later."
Sanila coughed lightly. "You really understand her."
Lu En remembered the days when he was pressured to get married a few years ago and sighed, "We've all been through this phase. I can understand you."
Sanila forced a smile. "Yeah, we've all been through that..."
Suddenly, Lu En remembered something. A hint of a smile flashed in his eyes as he pulled Charlotte close and whispered in her ear, "I have something prepared for you. They're all gone, so I'll give it to you now."
Charlotte was surprised. "You're usually so busy. How did you have time to prepare these?"
He calmly replied to Charlotte, "Because you're in my heart. Even if I'm busy, I still want to see you happy."
Lily stood by the sofa, giggling, and said excitedly, "Daddy is biased. He only prepares gifts for mommy every time."
Although she complained in her words, seeing her father being good to her mother made her happy.
Sanila found the children adorable and reached out to hug Lily. "Your daddy hasn't prepared anything for you yet. Would you like Auntie to give you a little gift?"
"But it's not good to accept gifts from others casually, right..." Lily mumbled.
"Why not? Auntie isn't just anyone. We grew up together, and I'm like your half family member. Next time we meet, I'll bring you some gifts." Sanila smiled.
Lu En glanced at her. He had just experienced the kidnapping of his children, so naturally, he wouldn't trust anyone other than his own family.
He turned to his daughter and asked, "If someone other than your parents asks you to go out with them, how would you respond?"
Lily remembered the scene of being locked in a dark room last night and shivered. "Lily and her brother will never go out with anyone else."
Lu En chuckled and rubbed his daughter's head. "That's right."
Sanila didn't understand why he said that. But she didn't want to confront him on the spot and ask him what he meant.
It's okay. She believed that time would make Lu En trust her.
She didn't believe that after knowing each other for so long, Lu En really had no feelings for her.
"I'll take you out to play next time."
Before Lu En could answer this time, Lily interrupted her directly, "Auntie, although I appreciate it, Lily doesn't want to worry her parents, so she won't go out with you. If you come to my house to find me, I'd be happy to play with you."
Sanila didn't know what happened to the children last night, so she was also confused by this conversation.
For some reason, she felt that Lu En now had a certain hostility towards her.
It's normal for there to be a sense of estrangement when they haven't seen each other for so long.
Sanila didn't dwell on this issue any further.
Delice walked out of the kitchen. "Sir, dinner is ready."
"Then let's go eat."
Lu En reached out to hold his daughter and walked towards the dining table.
Sanila stood behind him and suddenly stopped, looking indifferently at Charlotte, who was busy with the children in front of her.
She would definitely replace this woman in
the future!
Sanila watched quietly as the family laughed and talked, feeling very envious.
But what made her feel even deeper was regret.
In a way, she and Lu En were the same kind of people. Otherwise, he wouldn't have stayed abroad for so many years for his career.
The meal was very harmonious. Unlike those women who wanted to climb the social ladder, Sanila was very good at disguising her thoughts.
She also understood the current situation, which was to gain the other's trust first before proceeding to the next step.
Sanila looked at him. "I didn't expect you to be so different from before. Seeing you playing with the children now makes me feel that you've really matured."
Lu En said calmly, "People change. When you have your own children, you'll be like this too."
Sanila sighed lightly. "Look at you, you've started again. You can't go three sentences without mentioning marriage. I don't want to get married so soon."
