My eyes welled up at the sight.
“Your husband is an extraordinary man, Mama,” I whispered.
“And you chose an equally extraordinary man,” Mama replied, gently wiping my tears.
Finally, all the belongings were in the car. It was time to say goodbye.
Mama hugged me tightly, as if she never wanted to let go. “Take good care of yourself, dear. Call us if anything happens. Anything.”
“I promise, Mom,” I whispered, my voice trembling.
“And take care of Kaelos too,” Mom whispered in my ear. “He looks strong, but he needs you more than he realizes.”
“I will, Mom.”
Papa hugged me next, a big hug that made me feel like a little girl again. “My daughter,” he whispered, his voice slightly trembling, “I'm so proud of you. So proud. You've grown into an amazing Luna.”
“Thank you, Papa,” I cried now, unable to hold it in any longer. “Thank you for everything.”
