Chapter 692

In the end, Frost couldn't catch a hold of the bullet. For a moment, he became dumbfounded. He had only brought a single .308 Winchester rifle cartridge, so how was he supposed to kill Matthew now that it had fallen off? Meanwhile, Matthew continued to honk consecutively, but the security guard never opened the gates for him. At the same time, he noticed a bird taking off from the roof of Lifehaven Pharmaceuticals. He even noticed a bright glare reflected off of something, pointing directly at him, which made him feel an immediate sense of danger. Matthew then stepped on the gas pedal and crashed past the railings, charging straight into the factory. After he had parked the car by the building, he got out and entered the building. Then, he pressed the buttons on the elevators and prevented the doors from closing with a garbage bin. Once he had settled that, Matthew ran all the way up to the topmost floor, simultaneously checking for the sound of footsteps in the stairway. However, he found that there was no one beside him. Having run all the way up to the 15th floor without stopping, Matthew panted for his breath tiringly. Afterward, he pushed open the door to the roof and saw a man standing next to the edge, with a sniper rifle next to him. The rifle was aimed toward the entrance of the factory, and Matthew felt a shiver running down his spine as he asked, "Why didn't you shoot?" Upon hearing that, Frost's face twitched—who knew that there would be an accident that ruined his perfect plan? Now that Matthew had brought it up outright, Frost felt as if he was being humiliated. Just then, memories of his hellish training from the past decade flashed through his mind. Frost had single-handedly defeated more than ten expert martial artists, and he had also received high praises from his mentors and elders. They all said that he was the best assassin and top marksman, and even praised him as the walking weapon, utilizing every part of his body to kill. Frost then stated confidently, "I can finish you off within a second even if I didn't have my gun with me!" At that, Matthew's chest heaved as he sprinted forward a little too quickly. His legs were still sore, and his breathing was uneven. "What'd you bring a gun for then if you're not gonna shoot? Are you crazy?" While he spoke, Matthew took the opportunity to even out his breathing and his body conditions. Having heard Matthew's words, Frost's expression turned even more ferocious. He was a perfectionist, and the error that occurred earlier made him furious. Even worse, Matthew only added salt to his wounds. Frost gritted his teeth with fury. "How are you still running your mouth at death's door? Just you wait! You'll regret it very soon. I'll let you know just how powerful I am as the best assassin from The Fate Order—the future Crown Assassin. "Remember this very moment up until your next life, and don't go running your mouth as you wish!" Just as Frost had finished speaking, a dark silhouette flashed past his eyes. In the next moment, he felt a punch to his face, collapsing to the ground as his vision darkened. After he had knocked his head onto the ground and regained consciousness, Frost spoke in disbelief. "You… How dare you sneak up on me! I'm an assassin…" Halfway through his words, Frost realized that there was something in his mouth, so he spat it out. Then, he saw around seven to eight of his teeth sitting in a tiny pool of blood on the ground. Matthew let out a sneer and said, "Hey! I only made a move in front of you, unlike you, who waited on the rooftop just to ambush me." As he spoke, Matthew walked toward the edge of the roof and grabbed onto the barrel of the sniper rifle. Then, he made his way to Frost, using the sniper rifle as a bat and smashing it down on Frost's head. Frost then rolled over and dodged a hit as the butt of the rifle hit the ground, causing sparks to fly up while shards of stone scattered everywhere. Right after, he got up, feeling a little lightheaded since he had yet to recover from the punch earlier. He felt as if he had lost all the fight in him and was scared witless when he saw Matthew charging up to him. "What… What do you want?" In reply, Matthew spat out icily, "I'm gonna kill you!" Frost was so scared that he staggered back, up until he reached the edge of the roof. "I… I'm an assassin from The Fate Order, and you'll become the most wanted target in The Fate Order if you kill me. "They won't let you off until you die—you've got to think it through!" Matthew knitted his brows when he heard Frost's words. Just what sort of nonsense was he trying to sell? Was he trying to say that only he was allowed to kill Matthew and not vice versa? Feeling the rage that was building within, Matthew roared, "Think it through, my ass! Go to hell!" As he said that, he swung the sniper rifle at Frost's head.
