Chapter 693
All of a sudden, Frost leaned back and fell off the rooftop. It all happened so quickly that even Matthew was shocked. Were all assassins so fearless in the face of death? Frost had jumped off without any hesitation!
Matthew walked toward the edge and looked down, seeing Frost descending faster and faster. All of a sudden, he saw a mini parachute shooting out of Frost's back. It then opened up very quickly, slowing down Frost's speed at descending by a mile.
Upon seeing that, Matthew let out a disdained look. He initially thought that Frost wasn't afraid of dying, but it turned out that he came with preparations.
Watching his opponent escape with such ease, Matthew felt somewhat dissatisfied. He then trained his line of sight on the sniper rifle in his hand and froze before he lifted the sniper rifle.
After he aimed the rifle at his descending target, Matthew pulled the trigger. However, he was quickly met with disappointment when the firing pin sounded with a click.
"Fuck! It's empty!" Matthew cursed.
Just what was Frost doing—carrying an unloaded sniper rifle around?
As Frost was descending on his parachute, he looked back up at Matthew, who was raising the rifle, secretly glad that he hadn't loaded his rifle. It was a close call!
After he had slowly landed on the ground, Frost ran in the direction of the falling vent and used momentum to break his fall.
Then, he raised his head and looked to the roof, coincidentally seeing Matthew, who was aiming the sniper rifle at him.
"Just you wait!" Frost pointed at Matthew and yelled, "The Fate Order will see through all of the jobs they take, so my mission ain't complete until you die!"
Matthew then raised the sniper rifle and hurled it at Frost, sending it through the air as it spun and trained in Frost's direction.
Upon seeing that, Frost ran toward the entrance in fright and got onto his motorcycle.
As soon as he turned the handles, the engine roared deafeningly, and he shot out into the distance, getting further and further away from Matthew's sight.
Afterward, Matthew murmured under his breath, "The Fate Order… I'll make sure you meet your fate!"
Concurrently, Jonas and Julian were chatting away in the office. Julian was injured pretty badly, and he was wrapped up tightly in bandages like a mummy.
Given that he had witnessed Matthew's strength firsthand, Julian still felt a little uneasy. After all, Matthew was far too powerful.
"Mr. Fuller, do you think the assassin you hired can succeed?" Julian asked.
Upon hearing that, Jonas smiled and replied, "I've been working with The Fate Order for a long time now, and they have never failed any of their missions. This time, I even hired a newbie at a high price, and he's supposedly known as the future Crown Assassin.
"Judging by the rate I had to pay alone, it's safe to say that the mission can be carried out successfully. I paid twice more than I did last time, anyway."
Soon, they heard the sound of treading footsteps nearing the office, followed by a knock on the door.
Jonas then smiled as he pointed at the door, saying, "See? I told you he'd be back soon. He's killed that guy now, so let's give him a round of applause after he comes in."
Though Julian would be tearing open some of his wounds if he moved and clapped, he thought it was a moment worthy of celebration, so he agreed.
"Alright. I'll do as you say and clap for him."
After that, Jonas yelled at the door, saying, "Come in!"
Immediately after the door creaked open, both Jonas and Julian welcomed Frost with their applause. But they both stopped abruptly, hands paused in the air as if time had been frozen.
Jonas then watched in horror as Matthew walked toward them. "You… You're…"
It wasn't Frost! But he looked pretty familiar, like the guy in the photo Julian had given him.
Just then, Julian's face twitched in shock. "You… You're alive!"
Matthew looked at Jonas and asked, "Are you from the Fuller family?"
Sensing a bout of danger, Jonas backed away as he said, "I'm Jonas Fuller, and I'm here in the Fuller family's stead to settle things."
Hearing that, Matthew called out harshly, "The Fuller family's just damn amazing, aren't they? There are so many people in Woolfields who caught skeletal fluorosis, cancer, dementia, amnesia, and infectious lung disease because of the pollution and died later on.
"I know you're absurdly selfish and don't give a shit if other people died, but how are you still so heartless when you know that Eddie Fuller died because of Lifehaven Pharmaceuticals too?"
