Chapter 691
Matthew's expression remained solemn as he said, "The Fuller family wasn't aware of my abilities the first time it happened, so it's not unusual for them to wait for me at Lifehaven Pharmaceuticals.
"But now, they're calling us over again even after knowing what I can do. Do you think it would be that simple?"
At that, Kingston froze a little. Then, he asked, "You mean to say that… it's all a trap? Then… Then we shouldn't be going there!"
Just then, the car came to a halt with screeching brakes, kicking up a cloud of dust from the ground.
Seeing that Matthew had given in to his persuasion, Kingston felt a little better, saying, "Since it's going to be dangerous, let's just head back now."
Then, Matthew said coldly, "Get out!"
Kingston was stunned. "What do you mean by that? You want me to get out?"
Again, Matthew spat out coldly, "That's exactly what I mean—get out of the car!"
After Kingston got out of the car and shut the door, he realized that something was off with the situation. He then looked through the window at Matthew and asked, "What about you?"
Immediately, the engine started again, and the car roared as it sped past Kingston, leaving him in the dust.
Just as Kingston ran out of the cloud of dust that swirled off the ground, he noticed that Matthew's car had already traveled several feet.
Kingston yelled after him anxiously, "Stop! Why are you walking into the lion's den? You clearly know that it's dangerous!"
But no matter how loudly he shouted, Matthew couldn't hear him, and very quickly, the car disappeared from Kingston's sight.
Kingston then stood in place and sighed, turning around to leave. However, he had just walked a little over ten yards when he stopped in his tracks and screamed, "Fuck it! I'll go through hell with you this time!"
As soon as he said that, Kingston turned on his heels and chased after Matthew.
On the rooftop of Lifehaven Pharmaceuticals, Frost continued to stay in his crawling position steadily. Next to him was a .308 Winchester rifle cartridge on the edge of the roof, and he kept watching the road that led to Lifehaven Pharmaceuticals with his binoculars.
All of a sudden, he heard the flapping wings of a bird, and soon, a crow descended and landed on top of the sniper rifle's barrel. Seeing that, Frost curled up his lips in glee.
He knew that crows were known as the most vigilant birds, yet the crow didn't notice his presence, which made him quite proud of himself.
Then, the crow flew from the barrel of the sniper rifle to the edge of the roof, as if it was observing the situation below.
In the distance, a car appeared, speeding closer and closer toward Lifehaven Pharmaceuticals. Soon, the car was only less than a mile away, and through the scope of the sniper rifle, Frost recognized the man in the car as Matthew, the chauffeur.
Now that his target had arrived, Frost became even more calm and steady, like a solid statue. He looked through the scope and adjusted the centerpoint to Matthew's head, but he wasn't in a hurry to shoot.
Frost hadn't even loaded the rifle—he was waiting for the right moment. Since it was his first job, he made it his goal to get the job done with one shot.
He planned to wait for the car to park by the entrance of the factory and load his rifle before he shot Matthew because it was when he deemed the perfect time to shoot.
When Matthew's car closed in the distance to Lifehaven Pharmaceuticals, he slowed down and observed the pharmaceutical factory's surroundings.
Matthew felt as if a lying beast was waiting for him at Lifehaven Pharmaceuticals, which was why he needed to be extra vigilant.
Before he could reach the entrance, he honked his car. He speculated that, if the security guards were to open the gates for him when they heard Matthew, the danger would lie within the office behind the factory.
However, if the guards refused to open the gates for him, it might just mean that he would get ambushed at the entrance of the factory.
Matthew tested out his theory and honked loudly. On the roof, the crow flew away in fright at the sound, and the .308 Winchester rifle cartridge was swept off by the crow's wings, falling over the edge of the roof.
When Frost noticed that his bullet was dropping, he quickly reached out to catch it.
