Chapter 676
Covering her face, Wendy looked at Alan in terror. "I didn't have a choice. I was really backed into a corner."
Alan's eyes were filled with murderous intent. He raised his leg and sent Wendy sprawling on the ground with a kick.
"I've warned you before to never reveal my whereabouts to anyone, yet you still brought someone over. You've got a death wish!"
Wendy held her abdomen, and her face contorted in pain. "I-I only brought one person over. Anyway, you're strong, so he doesn't stand a chance against you."
Alan turned and grabbed Nightwrath sword from the rack. "I'm talking about the rules. Anyone who breaks them is courting death."
He knew that being a skilled fighter wouldn't keep him safe in this day and age. Even weaklings could still take him out if they had guns.
That was why Alan was so strict about keeping his identity under wraps, but Wendy treated his words like they were nothing.
Wendy was scared out of her wits. She scrambled to her feet and backed away repeatedly. "A-are you seriously going to kill me?"
Alan's mind was already quite twisted when he asked Wendy to marry Kingston. She never expected him to be so cold-blooded, even going as far as killing her.
Alan flashed a menacing grin at Wendy. "You brought this on yourself by breaking my rules."
Terrified, Wendy's legs turned to jelly. She once believed that reaching out to Alan meant she had found someone to protect her. If Alan killed Matthew, she thought she'd be safe.
She never expected this to happen as she turned to Matthew and pleaded for help. "I'm begging you. Please save me."
As she felt death approaching, she didn't have to think about whether Matthew would step in. All she could do was beg for help.
Matthew fixed his gaze on Alan, particularly the sword Alan held. At first glance, he could tell it was no ordinary sword.
Upon hearing Wendy's cry for help, Matthew remarked with annoyance, "Aren't you a woman? Go ahead and question him about hurting one. You might as well ask if he's a real man for intending to kill a woman."
Wendy said those words to Matthew when he laid his hand on her. At this moment, she seemed to have completely forgotten all of this when dealing with Alan.
Matthew didn't seem like he was going to help Wendy and even made snide comments. Upon realizing this, she went into a panic and broke down in tears.
"Please! I'm begging you to save me. I don't want to die."
A crisp zing echoed through the air as Nightwrath sword was drawn.
Exuding a palpable killing intent, Alan declared, "He's as good as dead, you bitch! No one can save you now."
Watching the scene unfold, Matthew's expression turned grave. When Alan pulled out his sword, he felt an immediate sense of danger.
That sword was incredibly sharp. When it made a sound, Matthew could feel his skin crawl.
As fear took over, Wendy stumbled back and fell to the ground. She clung to Matthew's leg and pleaded, "Help me, please! I'll do whatever you ask if you can help me out."
Matthew snarled, "You stole the traditional medicine book to hand it over to the Eastorians, so you need to pay for that! But I'm running out of time, so I don't care if you live or die. What matters most is that this Eastorian has to die."
Upon hearing that Matthew was set to take out Alan, Wendy immediately realized she had a chance to live. Without a second thought, she got up and bolted outside.
Upon seeing this, Alan swung Nightwrath sword at Matthew, with its blade glinting with a cold light. "Get out of my way!"
Matthew quickly jumped back, stopping about six feet away from Alan. Despite that, the gust from the sword still reached him, and his expression became even more serious.
What the fuck? Alan was taken aback. "H-how did you avoid it? Dodging my attack means you're not just anyone. Who the hell are you?"
Matthew sharply responded, "Who am I? Just someone out here to kill an Eastorian."
Alan slowly retracted his sword, gathering strength for his next lethal strike. His eyes fixed on Matthew, and it seemed like something clicked in his mind. "Are you Matthew?"
Matthew was surprised. "Do you know me?"
Alan sneered. "Just as I suspected. It's you. I came with Nightwrath sword to take your life. I can't believe you came right to me."
