She's with Me
Upon finding out that Diana had stolen Valentina's drafts for her admission to Biddeford University under pretenses, Selena almost fainted on the spot.
"You, you wicked girl, how dare you! Once you're in Biddeford University, you'll be found out!"
Selena was so anxious that she was pacing up and down.
She was not educated, but she knew very well that since Diana had been admitted to Biddeford University through a math problem, then her duty at Biddeford University would be to answer math problems.
What if she couldn't answer them?
"I don't care. I just want to go to Biddeford University." Diana looked desperate in her fervor.
She grabbed Selena's hand, "Mom, we can't let Valentina, Augus, or Dad find out about this, especially Valentina. She won't let me off easily."
Selena said, "Valentina is not the problem, but what about Biddeford University?"
"Take it step by step. As long as Valentina doesn't know, I will insist I solved the problem, and no one would suspect a thing."
"Mom, you need to help me, or I'm done for." Diana looked at her mother desperately as if looking at a lifeline.
Selena thought deeper than Diana. She patted Diana's hand and gave her a dose of reassurance. "I will help you."
If the truth came out, all the benefits Biddeford University promised Diana would disappear. Selena would become a laughingstock in front of relatives and friends.
And Diana's future would be gone too.
Selena would never allow such a thing to happen.
Upon hearing that the man was the principal of Biddeford University, George was shocked and elated. He was so excited that he didn't know what to do and could hardly speak.
He quickly wiped his hands on his clothes and shook hands with the principal apprehensively.
He had never thought he would have a chance to shake hands with the head of Biddeford University in his life.
He turned his head to call Diana and Selena to entertain the principal, only to find that both of them were nowhere to be seen.
So he decided to call Augus over, who was near the door.
"Where is Valentina? I came from Biddeford before dawn just for her," Geoffrey said, glancing around the room and trying to locate Valentina.
Augus replied, "Val is away and will probably return when school starts."
Upon hearing this, Geoffrey looked disappointed.
"Mr. Jefferson, you came all this way... How many points did my daughter actually score in the test?" George had no idea and was always uneasy.
Geoffrey said, "The scores of the top fifty students in the state will only be available in a few days."
"So then..."
Geoffrey glanced around at the admissions officers, lowered his voice, and told George, "Let's put it this way. Valentina's score was more impressive than the number one scholar."
George didn't quite understand. If Valentina's score was better than the number one scholar, why wasn't she the number one scholar?
Augus, who had been astonished by Valentina's score just a moment ago, thought to himself, "It's because she didn't write the composition. If she did, she would be the number one scholar."
"Mr. Jefferson, why do you come here in person? It's the first time I’ve seen you personally recruiting students." All the admissions officers present were quite curious.
"The paper this year was indeed difficult, but even if she got a full mark, it's not necessary for you to come in person, right?"
"Last month, I got sick and almost died on the street. Thanks to Valentina's help, not only am I here on behalf of Biddeford University to welcome her, I'm here to personally thank her for saving my life. Besides me, the vice principal and the director of the medical faculty will be arriving soon," Geoffrey firmly stated, hoping that the admissions officers would retreat after realizing the difficulty.
The admission officers didn't expect Valentina to know Geoffrey and even save his life.
George was still trying to digest the news of Valentina's score being better than the top scholar when he heard about Valentina saving Geoffrey's life.
"Medical faculty? Valentina got full marks in science. Wouldn't it be... a waste to go to the medical faculty?" An admissions officer felt that it was improper.
"What do you guys know?" Geoffrey waved his hand dismissively. "You guys can leave. Stop meddling. Valentina personally told me that she applied for Biddeford University."
"Mr. Jefferson, we haven't even met her yet. You...."
This was groundless speculation.
"You don't believe me?" Seeing their disbelief, Geoffrey turned to ask George and Augus.
Augus spoke the truth, "My sister did say she wanted to go to Biddeford University."
Geoffrey said proudly, "Did you hear that?"
"Um, but a decision can be changed." The officers didn't give up, "Mr. Jefferson, we all respect you, but let's rely on our own capabilities for school enrollment, right?"
"Fine, to avoid any accusations of me bullying you all, I'll remind you just once. As long as Valentina agrees to study in the medical faculty of Biddeford University, I'll personally gift her an apartment. She can pick any location in Biddeford," Geoffrey dropped this bombshell, causing everyone present, including Selena and Diana who were eavesdropping by the door, to stare in shock.
An apartment in Biddeford?
Choose any location she wanted?
That would cost at least 30 or 40 million dollars!
"That's rather outrageous!" Half of the officers wanted to give up after hearing this. How could they compete with Biddeford University?
In less than an hour, three or four of them left.
Geoffrey nodded his head satisfactorily, asking for Valentina's phone number from Augus. Without any rush, he dialed the number.
Unfortunately, he couldn't get through.
William had just returned to the hotel and was still downstairs when he received a call from Geoffrey.
"Guess where I am?"
"You seem to be in a good mood today."
Geoffrey laughed. "Do you remember the girl who saved me last time? I'm at her residence." He was waiting for the director of the medical faculty.
William slightly raised his eyebrows.
"Do you know about her scores on the SAT?"
"No."
"She ranked 12th in the state."
"Not bad," William said.
"Hey, there's more to that. Do you know why she only ranked 12th?"
"What do you mean?" William stepped into the elevator.
"She didn't write the composition!" Geoffrey's voice was full of laughter and pleasant surprise.
Did that mean she got full marks in other subjects?
Hearing this, William was not too surprised.
It was something Valentina could achieve.
Geoffrey continued, "I really didn't know who else to share this with, so I had to call you. You're the only other person who has met this girl with me, so you can definitely understand my feelings."
As the elevator doors opened, William took out his room card.
While on the phone, Geoffrey was talking to himself, "It's a pity that she has traveled far and cannot be reached on her phone."
William, who had just walked in, saw Valentina sitting on the living room sofa holding a laptop. He walked over and sat down on the other side of the sofa.
He said to Geoffrey, "She's with me."
Geoffrey was taken aback. "What did you say?"
"She's right beside me. Do you want to talk to her?"
Valentina looked up from her laptop and turned her eyes to him.
Was he talking about her?
Then, William brought his phone to her face, turned on hands-free, and said to her with a teasing tone, "Miss Ricardo, Mr. Jefferson wants to speak to you."
Valentina, who had just intercepted a bunch of admission office calls, first glanced at the phone and then scowled at William.
From the phone came Geoffrey's uncertain inquiry, "Valentina?"
Valentina shifted her gaze back to the laptop, responding casually, "What's the matter, Mr. Jefferson?"
"Is that really you?" Geoffrey's voice surged with surprise and delight.
He gushed a bunch of praises and greetings in his excitement, and finally couldn't resist asking, "Valentina, can you tell me why you didn't write your composition? Is there a reason?"
For everything else but the composition, Valentina had full marks. It was impossible that she didn't know how to write or that she ran out of time.
As expected, Valentina casually said, "Because I knew my scores would be enough to get into Biddeford University."
Upon hearing this, William couldn't help but smirk. He actually thought to himself, "That's indeed something only she would do."
