Do You Think He Has No Backer?
The same principal's office.
Only this time, it was even busier than the last.
The room was packed with people.
The boys involved stood at the back.
The worst wounded sat in a chair with a nurse giving him basic treatment with alcohol.
Gritting his teeth in pain, he was breathing heavily, filled with resentment and defiantly staring at Augus, who was alone.
"Do you know how to treat it or not?" An extravagantly dressed woman yanked the nurse away and yelled at a doctor standing by, "I paid money, but you doctors are leaving the treatment to these intern nurses? If anything happens to my son, I'll make sure this hospital goes out of business!" She gave the doctor a menacing look.
The doctor hurriedly took the tweezers from the nurse and treated the boy.
"Miss, please help this boy with his wound," The new principal, Felix Louise, had a kind face.
He beckoned the nurse who was pulled away earlier to treat Augus.
"I paid you. Daren't you dare treat him," the woman threatened the nurse instantly.
Following that, she glared murderously at Augus, ready to slap him again. "You untaught brat, how dare you hit my son!"
Fortunately, Felix and several other teachers held her back.
"Let me go. Do any of you know who my husband is? Do you all want to lose your jobs?" she yelled.
"Madam, I believe you understand the situation. While it was wrong for Augus to strike, your child was at fault first. If you lay a hand here, the nature of this matter will change," advised Felix.
"Nature? Let me tell you. Today I will cripple and incapacitate this little brat in front of you all, and I dare anyone to do anything about it!”
"This kind of words should not be uttered, ma'am. Misfortune might come from the mouth. Rest assured, I will handle this matter impartially without favoring anyone. I will certainly give you a satisfactory response. Shall we first send the child to the hospital? Also, these…” Felix pointed to the several bodyguards brought by the woman.
"Should we let them go first? Don't scare the boy."
Unexpectedly, the woman pointed at Felix's nose, raising her sharp eyes. "You're newly assigned here, aren't you? Didn't you check my identity before you came? Let me tell you, my husband is the chairman of the S&W Group. Do you believe me when I say that I can dismiss you in minutes?"
Felix was not flustered at all. He was personally assigned by Rory, backed by Rory himself, and it seemed that there were big figures behind Rory.
Seeing that he couldn't communicate with her, Felix didn't bother talking to her.
He noticed that Augus was having trouble with his leg, and it seemed hard for him to even stand, so he brought over a chair for him.
Augus didn't sit.
"When will your parents arrive?"
Felix looked kindly at Augus.
After a moment, Augus replied, "My father is at work. He can't make it."
"What about your mother?"
"She's out of town."
Selena had suddenly mentioned a few days earlier that one of her family members was getting married. She managed to take leave for Diana, who was about to take the SAT and took her to the wedding.
Augus thought to himself; it's a good thing that they're not in Mapleville now, otherwise, things would only be worse.
"But..." Felix was about to say something.
However, Augus interrupted, "I will take the blame for whatever happens."
Felix nodded in approval with a smile, "You are quite a brave young man."
"What are you all standing around for? Did my husband pay you to spectate? Teach this brat a lesson now." The woman pointed at Augus, shouting at the bodyguards.
"Are all of you deaf? Are you done working?" The boy who was beaten by Augus rushed past the doctor, pointing at Augus and shouting at her bodyguards.
Just then, the door behind him was pushed open.
The next moment, he felt a hard kick in his back. With a "thud," the boy, along with his chair, was thrown to the ground.
That kick felt as if it weighed a thousand pounds and the boy thought he had been struck by a giant rock. He could swear his backbones were broken.
He fell hard to the ground and was unable to move for quite some time.
Everyone was caught off guard by this sudden assault.
They all looked closely and saw that it was a girl who had kicked the man down.
The woman screamed and stumbled towards her son.
Valentina placed her hands in her pockets, glanced at the boy on the ground, and remarked, "You can still bark." She then walked leisurely towards Augus. "You need to train yourself to be tougher."
Augus, looking at Valentina who had appeared suddenly, couldn't control the lump in his throat and the fear in his heart. His nose felt sour and his eyes started welling up as he stammered, "Val..."
Still just a sixteen-year-old teenager, he had been quietly studious since he was young. This was the first time he had encountered such a thing. The woman's husband was a chairman. How could he not be afraid?
Unable to hold back his tears, Augus turned his head away, yet Valentina saw it.
Augus resolutely held back his tears.
"Val, I made a mess." Augus was full of regret at this moment.
He knew that the consequences of his momentary impulse were something his whole family couldn't bear. The other party was rich and powerful and could even likely affect his two older sisters who were about to take the SAT.
With his sister's support, Augus, who was no longer isolated and helpless, now looked just like a child who had done something wrong.
But Valentina just smiled gently at him, speaking in a calm and relaxed tone, "It's not a big deal."
"Even if you blew this place up today, I can handle it for you."
"How could you hit someone?" Felix hurried over to check the condition of the boy who was hit.
The other school leaders saw Valentina and their hearts filled with dread - how could it be her again?
They hurriedly ran to tell Felix, "That's Valentina."
Upon hearing this, Felix immediately turned his head to look. Wasn't it Valentina? He was just paying attention to the boy who had been beaten up and hadn't looked closely.
How was Valentina involved again? Felix looked at Valentina and then at Augus, and immediately realized they were siblings.
Rory had only asked him to take care of Valentina, not Valentina's entire family, and he had just started his duty today. He didn't know that Augus was Valentina's younger brother.
If he was Valentina's younger brother, then it would be easier to deal with.
"Son, son, how are you now? Speak to me, will you? Ah? Doctor! Doctor, why aren't you hurrying over to check on my son?" The woman was shouting while hugging her son, then she turned to her bodyguards. "What are you all waiting for? Beat her to death; any consequences are on me!"
Seeing the madam's son was attacked, the bodyguards rushed towards Valentina immediately without a second thought, causing an immediate uproar at the scene.
"Val!" Augus quickly stepped in front of Valentina as the fists approached her.
Before he could react, he was pulled away by Valentina. Then he saw a bodyguard get kicked and thrown away.
Valentina, under the stunned eyes of the crowd, quickly defeated the well-trained bodyguards and left them sprawling on the ground.
By the time people came to their senses, seven or eight of them were on the ground, screaming and howling in pain.
Valentina's hands were still comfortably tucked in her pockets.
The few boys standing at the back all looked stupefied as if they were watching an action movie.
The school leaders who were worried about Valentina didn't even have time to lend a hand. They didn't even clearly see what had happened before people were falling to the ground around them.
Valentina stepped on a baseball bat that was scrambled from somewhere in the chaos. She sloppily picked it up with the tip of her shoe, held it in her hand, and walked over to the stunned mother and son, casting a disdainful cold look.
"Nearly eighteen years old, I presume? Yet still crying for your mom despite this huge entourage." As she spoke, she glanced around at everyone present. The boys who had been swept by her gaze were scared breathless.
"Do you think it's okay to bully my brother because he doesn't have a powerful background?"
