William Met Valentina
Valentina liked peace, and anyone who knew her even slightly was aware of one taboo she held almost equivalent to "being betrayed by trusted ones".
That was to be disturbed during sleep.
Even Grey, who was close to her, didn't dare to interfere with her dreams.
Obviously, even he couldn't bear the consequences.
And yet, the ignorant person outside the door kept knocking incessantly. "Valentina? Valentina! Are you in there?"
Diana kept knocking on the door while listening for any movement inside.
Receiving no response for quite a while, she frowned. Since Valentina was awake, was she intentionally ignoring her or doing something else inside? She thought about what Augus mentioned about Valentina knowing coding and her ability to sell it for so much money. She found it hard to accept and believe.
If it weren't for the sake of the new phone and laptop, Diana would not have stood here, knocking at the door with patience.
After debating internally several times, Diana finally, albeit unwillingly, called out a term she despised, "Sister?"
Before her words could echo, the door suddenly swung open. Diana had not reacted when a hand swiftly gripped her throat.
Facing the icy eyes of Valentina, Diana's heart jumped out of fear. But the grip on her throat muzzled her scream.
Valentina's grasp started to increase. The skin on Diana's face visibly turned red quickly, and she found it difficult to breathe. The breakfast in her hand, brought as a peace offering, fell to the ground. Instinctively, she tried to pull Valentina's hand away and hit her on the shoulder, only to find that her actions were futile.
"Val." Augus rushed out of the room upon witnessing the scene and immediately tried to stop Valentina in fear.
Suppressing the surge of murderous intent, Valentina tossed Diana, who was struggling to breathe, to the ground. She glanced at the breakfast on the floor, not difficult to guess what Diana had been pondering.
"If you don't want to die, stay away."
Diana was completely startled. She was gasping for fresh air; tears cascaded down her face uncontrollably due to fear. As Valentina entered the room, Diana started sobbing out loud.
Facing death for the first time, fear rendered her mind blank and her body limp. Diana sat on the ground, crying and howling without regard to her image.
In the midst of her heart-wrenching cries, a sudden "smack" sound was heard. Valentina threw a glass cup at the door impatiently, shattering it into pieces.
Diana immediately silenced herself and scurried back into her own room.
Augus took a broom and quietly cleaned up the bread scattered all over the floor in front of Valentina's door, then mopped the floor clean.
At this time, the door opened.
As Augus looked up, he saw Valentina standing in front of him.
A few minutes later, Augus was sitting in front of Valentina's computer, watching the screen filled with fast-moving dense data.
He looked up at Valentina.
Valentina said, "Weren't you keen to learn hacking skills? I'll teach you."
Augus gasped, his eyes wide open in disbelief.
"You... you said you are...?"
A hacker?
Augus couldn't believe that a person of such legendary stature would one day stand before him.
And this person was his sister!
Augus had an appealingly fair and clean appearance. His brows and eyes were delicate, and he possessed a pair of eyes that seemed even brighter than a girl’s. However, he did not lack a strong and gallant spirit. The only thing missing was the dynamic energy of youth, but it was this silent and reserved melancholy of his that shaped his unique aura.
At this moment, his lips were slightly open, and his eyes widened in surprise as he looked at Valentina, looking inexplicably cute and funny.
Valentina liked this kind of quiet, well-behaved, and good-looking person.
Unable to resist, she stretched out her hand and lightly touched Augus's chin, her frivolous gesture looking very much like a playboy teasing a respectable young lady.
Augus, evidently caught off guard, blushed and reddened up to his ears.
Valentina, looking innocent and seemingly still giggling, made it hard for Augus to reconcile her with the fierce person from moments ago who wished to strangle Diana.
Valentina stopped teasing him and began explaining the basics of hacking to him, "Hacking, simply put, involves discovering flaws and vulnerabilities in computer systems and networks, as well as the techniques used to exploit these weaknesses. These flaws can include software vulnerabilities..."
Augus was naturally talented in this field - he had a high capacity for understanding. As long as Valentina explained it once, he would understand and could quickly get to grips with it.
Intelligent people were always agreeable, especially to someone like Valentina with gifted qualifications - her foul mood caused by Diana was completely wiped away.
Once she confirmed that Augus could learn and was indeed interested, Valentina stood up straight. "Let's go. I'll take you to buy a computer."
"Huh?"
After buying a computer, Valentina went to the bank to process a bank card, and before they knew it, it was already noon.
Once again, Augus followed Valentina to the Grand Sky Hotel.
The second time around, Augus was a lot more composed, but his heart was still a bit overwhelmed.
After having lunch, they took a taxi home.
To increase her exercise and lose weight quickly, Valentina got out of the taxi quite far from her home.
Augus had mobility impairments, so Valentina asked him to go home by taxi, but he simply responded, "I'm with you," and got off the bus with her to walk.
Meanwhile, outside the old residential area, a luxurious and understated Maybach parked, catching the attention of many passersby.
Inside the comfortable climate-controlled car, a man in formal attire crossed his legs in the back seat, looking out the window with patience.
Soon, Valentina’s figure came into his sight.
“It's her, Mr. William," his chauffeur and assistant said the moment he spotted Valentina.
When Lewis transferred money to Valentina, he took the opportunity to find out more about the girl who had saved his life. It wasn't difficult to do so because she had used her school-issued bank card. He sent this information to William before William left for Mapleville.
William, having dealt with people of all kinds in the business world for many years, didn't see anything special in Valentina. In his eyes, she was entirely ordinary - even a bit overweight. He had no idea why Lewis would care so much about her.
Lost in his thoughts, he was taken aback when Valentina, who was nearly out of sight, suddenly turned her head to look back at the car, her gaze meeting his precisely.
A flicker of emotion finally passed through William’s striking eyes. She was alert and quite clever. Looking at her again, he discovered that her features were rather attractive.
"She would look quite good if she loses some weight."
The assistant couldn't help but cast an admiring glance at Valentina, "This young girl is very sharp, no wonder..."
When Lewis was shot and covered in blood, if it had been someone else who saw him, even a grown man might not have dared to interfere, let alone a girl.
No wonder Lewis couldn't stop thinking about this savior.
An electric bike sped past in front of Valentina, and Augus quickly shielded her.
"Val, what's wrong?" Augus looked in the direction Valentina was looking, only seeing a car without any other abnormalities.
No, it was strange enough to see a luxury car here. "This car..."
Due to the one-way car glass, Valentina couldn't see the people inside.
In fact, as soon as this car appeared in her sight, Valentina noticed it. She had seen William before William saw her.
But she didn't feel any malice from the man in the car, so she didn't pay much attention until the man kept staring at her.
"Is there something wrong with this car?" asked Augus.
"No, let's go", replied Valentina as she withdrew her gaze.
To reassure Lewis, William pulled out his phone, aimed the camera at Valentina, and snapped a photo.
Looking at the photo of Augus walking side by side with Valentina, William wondered, "Is this... her boyfriend?"
