Three Million Dollars
"The hell..." The taxi driver was dumbfounded. He had been driving this old car for five or six years, and this was the first time he had ever seen it driven like this!
Gabriel was stunned for a couple of seconds.
Once he came to his senses, he immediately got out of the car, staring in disbelief at Valentina who was sitting calmly in the car. He was speechless for a moment.
The rich young heirs looked at Gabriel, then at Valentina.
"Did Gabriel lose?"
That didn't seem to be the point. The point was: A Lamborghini supercar worth more than 15 million dollars lost to an old Volkswagen!
Damn, if that's not a miracle, it must be some impressive driving skills!
Valentina reached out for the pen on the windscreen, borrowed the taxi driver's notebook, wrote down her bank account number, and tore off the sheet of paper.
Gabriel stood in front of his car door, staring at Valentina without moving, seemingly still in shock.
Valentina got out of the car, walked up to him, raised her arm, and between her slender fingers was the piece of paper.
"One million dollars, transfer it to my account."
She slapped the note onto the hood of silver sports car, put her hands in her pockets, and turned to leave.
"Hold on!"
Gabriel finally came to his senses and called her back at once.
"Any problem?"
Valentina turned her head, one of her elegant eyebrows slightly raised, giving an unspeakable sense of cold refusal, yet with a hint of humor.
The confident aura and powerful presence she exuded made it easy to ignore her somewhat petite physique.
"Do you dare to compete again?" Gabriel, struggling to contain his excitement and eagerness, picked up a note and raised a finger, "One million dollars."
Valentina stared at him without moving for a moment.
Gabriel raised the stakes. "Two million dollars."
Valentina raised her eyebrows again. "How do we compete?"
Refusing money that was on the doorstep wasn't logical.
"Easy." Seeing her agreement, Gabriel couldn't hide his happiness. He waved over his best car-savvy friend.
To Valentina, he said, "You drive my car and compete with him. But there's a condition - I'll sit in the passenger seat."
"Deal."
Gabriel was a typical rich kid, not too cunning. What he was thinking could be clearly seen through his expression by Valentina.
Smuggling his friend's shoulder enthusiastically, Gabriel patted him. "Show me all your driving skills and step on that accelerator with all your might."
After that, he couldn't wait to go to his sports car. He opened the door, pulled the bewildered sexy girl out of the passenger seat, and sat down himself.
Valentina then got into the driver's seat.
"Do you know how to drive it? This car is a limited edition, less than ten in the world. I've modified it. Want to take it for a spin first to get used to it?" Gabriel just wanted to see how good Valentina's driving skills were!
The fact that even a common Volkswagen could be driven so skillfully, completing such high-difficulty maneuvers excited Gabriel.
Valentina fastened her seatbelt. "No need, I have two of these cars in my garage." And they were even more modified than this one.
Not only that, she even had a better one in her garage.
Damn, was she that rich?
That was Gabriel's first reaction.
Gabriel was skeptical, sizing up Valentina. "You're not from Mapleville, are you? Could someone in a poor place like Mapleville afford to drive this car? And two of them?"
Valentina didn’t respond and just waited for the race to begin.
Suddenly, Gabriel remembered that this car was priceless, and even with money, one might not be able to buy it. It took him two months of behaving and buttering up at home that his dad finally helped him get it.
"You said you have two of these? This car?" Gabriel pats the armrest of the seat, laughing snidely. "You are really good at bragging.” He then murmured, "You're not from the Felton family."
Thinking of how he almost fell for Valentina’s pretense and didn’t react in time, Gabriel rolled his eyes.
He only didn't make her feel embarrassed because of her driving skills.
Valentina didn't bother to say more.
"My name is Gabriel. What's yours? Dressed in a school uniform, you must still be in high school, right? What grade are you in? You should go to Biddeford for university. I'm studying at Biddeford University. This way, we can exchange driving tips every day. How about leaving your contact information? When I'm free, I can come to find you… Ah, the race is about to start. Come on, hurry up.”
With a single order from Eric, the race began. Gabriel saw his friend's car rush out first, but Valentina did nothing, which made him urge her in a hurry.
Valentina said, "What's the rush? An extra twenty seconds won't be a threat to me. I'll make you admit defeat and accept your two million losses willingly."
Gabriel became even more excited.
Finishing her words in a rather unhurried manner, Valentina finally stepped on the accelerator.
She had been held in a Pacific underground lab for over six months and had been quiet for a while before that; she hadn't had the chance to race or feel the thrill of high-speed movement in a long time.
A sports car is a sports car – it wasn't something that old, broken one could compare with.
Gabriel's friend was undoubtedly a top-notch driver. After witnessing Valentina's high-level maneuver just now, he didn't dare to underestimate Valentina one bit and focused wholly on the road.
Noticing Valentina trailing behind him at the start, with quite a distance between them, he couldn't help but feel a tinge of joy. He thought to himself, 'Just now, Valentina used a broken car to beat Gabriel's supercar. If I can defeat Valentina driving a supercar, wouldn't that be amazing?'
He possibly could even make Gabriel respect him.
However, his triumphant feeling barely lasted two seconds before he saw the supercar, which he had previously left far behind, reappear in the rearview mirror. With a ghost-like speed, the silver shadow was terrifyingly catching up.
He reacted swiftly, trying to block the overtaking by turning the steering wheel. However, Valentina was even quicker. Utilizing the road bend ahead, Valentina passed him like a lightning strike.
He only saw the silver supercar rushing past him like a bullet, accompanied by the sound of tires scraping across the ground and the excited yelling of Gabriel.
Disbelievingly looking at the sports car, now only a disappearing shadow in front, he was stunned for two seconds.
"Bravo!" Gabriel in the passenger seat stood up halfway in excitement, looking at his far-flung friend behind them. His face flushed in excitement.
Racing required not just skills but also boldness.
Gabriel had always considered himself quite fearless, but he never anticipated that Valentina, a girl, had a bigger daredevil spirit than him.
Whenever he took a bend, he would always slow down, but Valentina, far from slowing down, would instead keep accelerating. He could almost feel the tires lifting off the ground multiple times.
In his heart, Gabriel had to admire Valentina's audacity.
Before he could react, the car was already rushing to the pinnacle of the hill, and then driving down the mountain.
Going downhill seemed even faster and more thrilling than going up. Gabriel was screaming throughout the whole journey.
At the foot of the mountain, everyone craned their necks, with some even taking out their phones to calculate the time.
When the crowd heard the engine roar, a faded shadow flew past them before they could get a good look.
The moment the car stopped, Gabriel's legs turned into jelly. Sitting on the co-driver's seat, motionless, his whole face had been numbed by the wind.
His ears rang with the sound of wind, as he heard Valentina say, "Three million dollars in total. Don't forget to transfer it to my account."
By the time he looked up, Valentina had already exited the car and was getting into the Volkswagen.
"Hey!" Gabriel responded sluggishly. By the time he wanted to speak, the car had already driven away.
He hurriedly looked for someone amidst his friends, "Well... um." His gaze was fixated on Eric's face.
Eric pointed to himself and quickly ran over, "Mr. Wright, need me?"
Gabriel pointed in the direction Valentina had left, "Do you know her?"
Eric shook his head, only recognizing the school uniform Valentina had been wearing.
During all this, Gabriel's friend - the rich young man, was still hurrying down from halfway up the hill...
