Chapter 756 I'm Afraid of You Running Away
Ruby was escorted into the base with both arms tied.
Everyone in the base was woken up when an unidentified military aircraft landed in their base. They were all on high alert and assumed an enemy spy had been captured.
Ruby was brought directly to Blaine’s office. Blaine was dressed in casual clothes and was staring at the detained woman with an emotionless expression.
Without saying much, Blaine simply told both guards, “You can leave us now.”
One of the soldiers took a glance at Ruby and felt that something was sketchy with Ruby so he warned Blaine in a concerned tone, “Director, this woman might actually be a spy. You need to stay alert.”
Blaine raised his head slightly and calmly replied, “I know what I’m doing.”
Ruby spoke immediately after both guards left, “Untie me.”
As Blaine stared at her, there was a subtle glint in his eyes but it faded away immediately.
“Why’d you come to the Western borders?”
Ruby chuckled as she looked up with her beady eyes and replied while staring at him, “Why are you asking the obvious, Blaine?”
If he did not want to force her to come over, why would he even bother to have Old K tell her everything about her a decade ago after Blaine left?
Blaine walked over to her and stared intensely at her as he said, “Was it because you missed me that made you want to come over to the Western borders?”
It was true that she had restored every last bit of the memories she shared with him a decade ago. However, now that she was in front of him, she could not bring herself to bluntly admit to him that she missed him.
Ruby looked away and skittishly denied, “I don’t.”
“Why’d you come over then?”
Ruby took a deep breath and just as she was about to look up and question him, the man had already grabbed her chin with his long slender fingers before lowering his head and kissing her.
The kiss was very sudden and Ruby did not even have time to react and struggle. Not to mention, her hands were still restrained and was unable to push him away. This allowed Blaine to kiss her for a really long time.
Blaine closed his eyes and was completely lost in that kiss while Ruby’s glaring eyes seemed a little dazed.
Blaine pressed his forehead against hers when the kiss ended as he whispered to her with his eyes closed, “Oh Softie, I missed you dearly.”
‘I missed you…’
Ruby’s long lashes trembled when he mentioned the name, ‘Softie.’
It was only then did she realize that the nickname, ‘Softie’ Blaine muttered in his sleep back then was none other than her from ten years ago.
“Why did you force me to look for you, Blaine?”
“I never forced you.”
Without even blinking, Ruby spoke in a determined tone, “Sure, you never forced me but the thing is, you had your underling tell me that my memories about you were sealed away by someone. Yes, you never forced me but who could even rest after hearing such a revelation anyway? You already knew that as soon as I learned the truth about what happened a decade ago, I will stop at nothing to restore my memories. Blaine, you already knew that I will come for you.”
Blaine was not surprised. However, his eyes were twitching since all of this was within his realm of expectations.
“So, are you Ruby or Softie at the moment?”
“Don’t you think you’re bullying me a little too much by asking me that right now, Blaine?”
Ruby continued, “Are you planning to talk to me while keeping me restrained the entire time, Blaine?”
Without moving an inch, Blaine stared intensely at her with his dark eyes and spoke to her in a half joking manner, “I’m afraid that you will run away.”
Ruby scoffed while slightly raising her brows as she said, “If I’m planning on escaping, I wouldn’t have come to a place like this for you in the first place. Hurry up and untie me.”
