Chapter 65

Jason nodded. "Yes, I want to buy it." The butcher figured out the whole situation after his gaze swept around the people in the yard. "Okay. How much will you pay?" "One thousand," Jason said. I handed my bag to Jason. After one glance at the inside of my bag, I thought there were more than tens of thousands of dollars.  The cash was brand new. "You can't sell the dog to him!" Laura was angry. "We sold it to you. How can you sell it to others?" The butcher wasn't a fool. He rolled his eyes at Laura and then took the money from Jason. "The dog is mine. None of your business." "He is right." I sided with the butcher.  "You, you, you." Laura was furious.  Eliane rolled her eyes. "Mom, your bad. You asked for too much. They wouldn't refuse us if you were a bit reasonable." Intelligent, YELLOW ran to me and rolled by my feet happily. Happy, the butcher counted his money. "Hey, do you want more? I have plenty of dogs like it in my slaughterhouse." "Yes." Carroll took out five rolls of cash and tossed them to the butcher. "Send them to homes for stray animals." "Well, you can have all my dogs with this money." The butcher was happy about the deal. "You may tell one of your men to watch me send those dogs away. What do you think?" Carroll said nothing, and A bodyguard behind him walked over and said to the butcher, "Let's go." The butcher took his stuff and left with the bodyguard.  After a while, the sound of a tractor came from outside. Laura was unhappy, so her face darkened. "You wasted 50 thousand dollars in a silly way." Yes. What a waste! My heart ached. Carroll was so thriftless. "My love is soft-hearted. She can't see small animals suffering. I spent some money for her peace of mind." Carroll stood up and patted me on the head. "Let's go. Don't you want to leave?" Laura caught up with Carroll indignantly. "Soft-hearted? She can kill chickens faster than anyone else!" "Besides, that is her money. How can you make the decision for her?" Well... I smiled awkwardly. "We raised chickens as food. We would starve if I didn't kill them." With a slight smile, Carroll said, "She's skillful." "You!"  Laura, who wanted to say something, shut up because of one glare from Carroll. "Noisy..." With his arm on my shoulders, Carroll walked to the roadster with me.  It took over ten minutes to drive out of the village. It was the slack season. The villagers had a little gathering after lunch.  They looked at the roadster with surprise. I shook my head. "Isn't this a show-off?" "Do you like it? If yes, get yourself a driver's license," Carroll said. I was speechless. "Driving is a skill too. Much more useful than killing chickens." Carroll looked at me through the rearview mirror with a smile in his eyes.  "Tease me? You, the noble Mr. Carroll, had a fight with a shrew, didn't you?" "We are birds of a feather. How dare you tease me!" I turned my head away in anger. Carroll's smile became brighter. "Can't I quarrel with a shrew?" "It doesn't fit your public image! Aren't you a tyrant? You should be aloof. Like 'Woman, come here'!" Instantly, Carroll slammed on the brake and pulled over.  He pinched my chin with a faint smile. "Woman, come here!" Then, his lips approached and overlapped with mine. Gradually, I sank into this seduction.  However, Carroll let go of me when I was in a trance. He asked playfully, "Is this what you like?" "Bah!" I turned my head away to hide my flushed face from Carroll. "Rogue!" YELLOW was sent to a pet hospital in Costsley for treatment because of its parasites and skin conditions. Then, I learned of a ridiculous piece of news, and that was we would move! Carroll brought me to his office. I looked at him in shock. "Move?" "The renovation of Bamboo Pavilion ended. Sky City isn't large enough for the two pets." Holding his bracelet in one hand, Carroll checked the data on the screen seriously. Fine. The rich knew better than me about how to enjoy life.  Sitting in the armchair, I watched Jason print the test papers for me.  Then, I indulged in doing tests.  When I finished the test, Carroll was still reading his documents.  In the past, I thought that life for the rich was easy and comfortable. However, it seemed that the rich worked harder than me.  Noticing that I was lost in thought, Carroll put down the documents in his hand and beckoned to me. "Give me your papers." "Oh." I handed over the papers. Then, I waited silently when resting my head on my hand. Carroll's expression relaxed gradually. "I underestimated you. You made great progress." "Really? Can I get admitted to Costsley University?" I seem to see the door of Costsley University. My dream was about to come true. Carroll nodded. He put down his pen, looked me in the face, and asked, "Did you really quit school at after Grade 9th?" "Yes. I learned by myself. During work, I audited and went to the library whenever possible," I answered honestly.  I felt sad at the thought of my past.  Fortunately, there was Carroll now. "Did you learn to kill animals in the library?" Instantly, my sadness was gone.  Frowning, I asked, "Carroll, you won't forget this topic, will you?" "Look, you are annoyed!" Carroll's smile was distressing. Angry, I moved away from Carroll and read a magazine.  The magazine was boring, but a photo of an embroidery attracted my attention.  I stared at the photo for a long time, so Carroll asked, "Do you like embroidery?" "No," I answered casually.  I was familiar with the pattern of this embroidery. I had once seen it in the books belonging to Granny Luisa.  The two mandarin ducks on the photo were golden and lifelike. They were a product of thread made from lotus... There was a large lotus pond in Phoenix Village. Every summer, Granny Luisa picked the lotus and then made them threads. Her status in the village was as embarrassing as mine, so I was close to her.  I gently touched the photo. It surprised me that embroidery could become a work of art. I wished that Granny Luisa would get this good news.  "Like it very much?" Harris popped up, taking me by surprise. "Well, are you a ghost? Why didn't I hear you?" I patted my chest when glaring at Harris. "The door is open, so I came in. You two didn't do anything shameful. Why are you so scared?" Harris snatched the magazine from me. "You like this thing." "She likes me! In the future, knock before you come into this office!" Carroll said unhappily. "You are bad to me after you have a wife." Harris made a face. "I got the investigation done."
