Chapter 64
The evil could see nothing but something evil.
I gnashed my teeth in hatred. Carroll squeezed my hand when I wanted to talk back.
He pulled his cap and suddenly beamed, "Why don't you keep one?"
Puff!
I couldn't hold back my laughter. Jason and the others behind me turned their heads to hold back their laughter.
Laura had a sharp tongue. Now, it turned out that Carroll had a shaper one than her.
After a long silence, Laura said, "You guys are shameless. She's married but still stalks around with a gigolo. You, you, I will tell you off."
"Go ahead." Carroll noticed the wooden bench in the yard. After a slight shock, he pulled me over to sit down.
I knew that Carroll found the bench disgusting.
"I should have brought you a lounge chair." I felt sorry for him.
For my sake, the noble Carroll came to Phoenix Village and bickered over a dog.
How embarrassing!
"I am not a neat freak," Carroll said.
I looked him up and down, "Aren't you? In romantic novels, all the heroes have this problem."
"I'm your gigolo now."
Carroll casually rested his arm on my shoulder and crossed his legs.
Given his current attire, he did look like a bad man.
However, there wasn't a hint of docility.
This answer staggered me, "Do you look like one?"
"As long as she thinks so," Carroll raised his chin.
Till then, I found Laura making a phone call.
Did she intend to tell me off to the Smith family?
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry because the Smith family didn't care about me at all.
Laura frowned, "Why can't I reach them?"
"Aren't they all at work?" said Eilane.
Hearing my voice, YELLOW made a fuss behind the door of the woodshed.
Annoyed, Laura put her phone back in her pocket, "Call them later. I'll deal with this beast first."
"I've contacted a butcher for you. He'll be here soon." Jason showed Laura the call record.
"Kelly, are you sure to do so?" Laura roared at me, "You spent over 100 thousand dollars on a meal. Can't you spare 50 thousand dollars for this dog? Don't you like it?"
"Mom! You demanded too much." My uncle couldn't help complaining.
Furious, Laura was anxious to vent her anger. She poked my uncle on the forehead hard and cursed, "You are a good-for-nothing. Do you know how to make good use of a golden goose? Look at her gigolo! Is he cheap?"
"Yesterday, Odette told us that the dress Kelly wore cost more than ten thousand dollars, and her bag was worth more than 100 thousand. Look at her gigolo! Does he look cheap?" Eliane was a cooperative ally to Laura.
"Alas," My uncle lost the argument. After a sigh, he left to smoke.
What Laura and Elaine had said made sense, so I blurted out, "You have good taste. He is not cheap at all."
Instantly, Carroll gave me a warning look.
Intimidated, I smiled awkwardly. "You're priceless."
"Kelly!" Carroll roared in a low voice.
Alas, I couldn't tease him as he did.
"Ahem," I cleared my throat and asked with a straight face, "Odette has what I wear. She is rich. How much money does she give you, her grandma?"
With her head high up, Laura looked proud, "She bought the clothes on Elaine and me."
"Based on my estimation, your clothes cost less than one thousand dollars," Jason said. "From what I heard, she bought you something and instantly drove you back to Phoenix Village."
"Well, she is kind enough to make them a charity case." I responded to Jason.
Laura looked awkward, "Odette is a young lady, well-educated. She differed completely from you."
"Yes," I nodded, "You're right. She grew up in the Smith family as a young lady while you trained me as a maid. Isn't that the problem?"
"By the way, why did she blacklist your phone numbers after sending you back?"
"She didn't," Evasive, Laura took out her mobile phone and called Odette again, "The number you dialed is out of reach."
Smiling, I took out my phone and dialed Odette's number.
Soon, Odette answered the call., "Kelly, what is up?"
"Sorry, wrong number." After that, I hung up the phone.
"Well..." Elaine looked at Laura, "She did blacklist your phone number."
Great! I felt great!
My distress was gone instantly.
The butcher appeared with a large scale on his shoulder. Noticing the bodyguards in the yard, he asked, "Any dog for sale?"
"Yes, I want to sell it." Laura led the butcher to the woodshed and opened the door.
Animals got souls. YELLOW showed its teeth at the sight of the butcher.
"YELLOW, be good. Be cooperative." I walked over and gently stroked its head.
YELLOW had lost a lot of weight and was dirty.
Brimming with tears in its eyes, YELLOW wagged its tail desperately.
The butcher was not happy. "It's skinny. I don't think it weighs 40 pounds."
"It weighs 50 pounds. Don't try to fool me."Laura was shrewd in the bargain.
"Come on! I have sharp eyes. 40 pounds, or keep it." The butcher intended to leave.
Given her disposition, Laura should curse now.
Threat didn't work on her.
However, things were different today. After one glance at me, Laura gritted her teeth and stomped her foot. "Sell! I am determined to break her heart."
"I don't think you can." I walked to Carroll.
I was confident that Carroll would bring YELLOW back to me.
"Okay, 7 dollars for one pound, 40 pounds, so 280 dollars in total." The butcher gave Laura 280 dollars.
Laura spat some saliva on her fingers and counted the cash twice. "Can't you give me 300?"
"No way! You are a bandit!" Speaking, the butcher wanted to take the money back from Laura.
"A deal is a deal. Why did you try to rob my money?" Laura took one step back, rolled the money up, and stuffed it in her waist.
The butcher took out a bundle of ropes.
Carroll, who sat next to me, winked at Jason.
Jason nodded with a smile. Then, he walked to the butcher. "Bro, is this dog for sale?"
"What?" The butcher looked Jason up and down and then thought for a moment. "Do you mean you want to buy this dog?"
