A Stroll with Wolfie

"Wolfie is very intelligent." I pulled Rose out of the kitchen. "It understands what we say. It won't attack humans, not to mention its family, after it is full." I patiently explained to Rose. Carroll came out of the study and asked, "It seems you know wolves well." "In some way." I raised my chin proudly. "I often played with wolves in the mountains when I was little." "Oh my! Madam, what happened in your childhood?" What I had said sounded incredible to Rose. Looking at the surprised Rose, I came up with one idea. "One day, I was picking up firewood in the mountain. After a pack of wolves surrounded me, God appeared and enlightened me. Therefore, I can tame wolves now." "What?" Rose became slack jawed. Carroll burst into laughter. "I think you were enlightened to talk nonsense! "You should be disciplined." "Madam, you are kidding!" Rose got the hint and complained. Wolfie, my wolf, lay on the balcony, basking in the sun. He drooled with his gaze at the lawn below. There was a garden on the eighth floor. There were ponds and lawns in the garden. A lot of dogs were swimming in the ponds, so I thought Wolfie wanted to join them. I walked over, squatted down, and patted Wolfie on the head. "Not now. There are so many children there. I'll take you swimming at night." Wolfie howled as if he understood what I had said. It was 10p.m. There were neither dogs nor children in the garden below. I patted Wolfie on the head. "Let's go. It's our turn." Wolfie shook his head excitedly and then wore the harness cooperatively. The light in the study was still on, so I whispered to Wolfie. "Remember, don't howl and pretend to be a dog." Once again, Wolfie howled. I felt speechless. Never mind. My request was unreasonable to a wolf. I took Wolfie to the garden. The fragrance of grass floated in the air of the empty garden. I loosened the chain in my hand. "Don't run too far." Wolfie grew up on the beach, so he had never seen such a big lawn. He rolled on the lawn, enjoying himself. Everything went on well till a Komondor came, running... I tried to pick up Wolfie's chain, but it was too late. The Komondor barked and then bit Wolfie on the neck. Wolfie whined for the pain, pressed the Komondor to the ground, and bit its neck without hesitation. The Komondor was the victim now. Holding his head high, the Komondor wailed. I came to my senses and walked over to stop Wolfie. "All right. Enough. Let go of it." Wolfie let go of the Komondor reluctantly. I checked Wolfie's neck under the street lamp. Thanks to the thick leather harness, Wolfie didn't get hurt, but some saliva from the Komondor. "Whose dog is so ill-bred?" A woman in high heels came over and then squatted down to check the Komondor. Scared, the Komondor shivered with blood on his camel hair. I took a step forward and then apologized in a low voice. "Sorry! Shall we take Wolfie to see the doctor now?" Frowning, the woman looked me up and down. Then, she said scornfully, "Who is your master? To see the doctor? Do you know how much this dog costs?" "I don't know," I said truthfully. "This is the Afghan Hound and costs more than your yearly income! Call your master over to make compensation now!" The woman rolled her eyes at me. She felt sorry for the Komondor in her arms. "My baby, sorry for your suffering! That beast had the gut to bite you because he didn't know your value." Obviously, this woman was cursing me with Wolfie as the excuse. I rolled my eyes and sat down on the bench. "You are right that I didn't know its value. What hound? Isn't it just a mop with a long face?" "What did you say?" The woman instantly flared up and looked down at me. "You sound arrogant as a nanny. Do you know who my husband is?" "No." I helped Wolfie comb his hair. "My husband is Karry Gideon! Do you know him?" The woman pointed at my nose. "No," I replied. "Okay, just wait. I'll call the staff of the property management company!" The woman stepped aside and made a call. If she didn't, I would make this call. Since the Komondor was badly wounded, I planned to pay its medical fees. However... Given the arrogant attitude of its owner, I wanted to argue about the troublemaker for this incident. In less than ten minutes, one manager from the property management company appeared. He greeted the woman warmly, "Mrs. Gideon, I'm so sorry. I'll handle this case." "Glad that you came. Call her employer for compensation!" The woman became insolent. After one glance at the manager, I said calmly, "Are you the manager in charge of this building? Let's check the surveillance video now!" The manager shifted his gaze from me to the woman. Then, he pulled me away from the bench and said, "Girl, you should know what is good for you. Do you know who her husband is? "Her husband was Karry, the head of the business department in the Brown Group. "Why don't you make compensation to hush up the problem?" I asked with a frown, "She didn't chain her dog, and that mop is the culprit. "Why did I become the problem now? "No way! Let's check the surveillance video first. I don't give a damn who her husband is." "You heard her!" Mrs. Gideon looked shocked as if I was the troublemaker. Since I refused to yield, the manager pulled a long face instantly. "What's your name?" "Kelly!" Frowning, the manager thought for a moment. "Not in the record!" "What's wrong with your management? How come you don't register the nannies on the books?" The woman seized the opportunity and screamed, "Tell her employer to make compensation, and she should kneel down and apologize to my dog!" "Me? To kneel down and apologize to Wolfie?" I pointed to my nose, wanting to clear my ears on the spot for better hearing. "Are you in menopause? Do you suffer from an imbalance of hormones? Old woman!" "You, what did you call me?" The woman flushed with anger. "I just came of age, so can't I call the women during menopause old women?" I asked. The woman stamped her feet angrily and shouted at the manager, "If you can't handle this problem, you should consider a new job!" This threat worked because the manager instantly changed his expression and tone. "Who is your master? Don't you know that you should register your case first?" "The Brown family on the 57th floor." A cold voice answered the question for me. I looked back and saw Carroll coming with a cap on his head.
