Chapter 1240
After a while, Mable heard him speak, "So, when are you planning to return to Italee?"
Mable thought for a moment. "I still have some unfinished business. Can you give me a little more time?"
Jeremiah fell silent once again. After a while, he reminded Mable slowly and deliberately, "Astrid, I don't want to pressure you. However, I hope you remember that Blair is not your lover; he's your enemy."
As Mable listened to his words, she suddenly felt a throbbing in her temple.
"Alright, I understand. I have something to attend to, so I'll hang up now. Goodbye."
She hung up the phone without waiting for Jeremiah to say anything else.
She sat on the couch, supporting her head with her hands and pressing her temple with her fingertips to relieve the sudden headache.
"Mabes, what's wrong?" Blair nervously descended the stairs.
"I'm fine."
Mable raised her head, revealing a faint, warm smile. "I suddenly felt a bit of a headache in my temple."
"Is it serious? Should I call the family doctor to come over?"
Mable placed her hand on Blair's hand and smiled. "No need to worry. It's already gone."
She chuckled and said, "If I can feel a headache now, maybe in a little while, I'll start feeling pain in other places, too. Who knows? It might not be long before my sense of pain returns."
Blair caressed Mable's cheek. "Mabes, I hope you recover your sense of pain, but I don't want you to be in pain."
Whenever she cried out in pain, his heart ached as if he were being cut with a knife.
Mable knew he wished her well and felt comforted. She jokingly said, "You can't have both."
Blair pulled Mable into his arms. "I don't want anything; I only want you."
Mable stared into Blair's eyes. At such a close distance, she saw nothing but love for her in his eyes.
The atmosphere gradually became intimate.
Blair caressed Mable's cheek and chin, gently kissing her lips.
"Ding!"
Just when the mood was getting intense, Mable's phone suddenly rang.
Mable came back to her senses and pushed Blair away.
Mable cleared her throat and said, "Uh, let me take this call."
"Hi, Zoe."
It was a video call from Zoe. Mable answered the call, and she saw Zoe holding her phone with a background of the vast sea.
Zoe waved at Mable in the video. "Good afternoon, Mabes! Look, the scenery on Bay Island is so beautiful!"
Zoe switched to the rear camera to show Mable the view.
"It seems like you're adapting well to life on the island."
Zoe smiled and nodded. "I thought I wouldn't adapt, but after coming here, I realized everything is great. Ky takes good care of me, and I like it here."
Blair approached Mable, looking at Zoe, and asked, "What about Kyle? Is he okay with you being alone by the sea?"
Kyle was next to Zoe but out of the frame. Upon hearing Blair's question, he moved closer.
"How could he be okay? I wish I could stick to her 24/7," Kyle joked.
Kyle handed Zoe a coconut drink, and Blair took Mable's phone for her.
Zoe was excited to see Mable and said, “Mabes, Ky said he would bring me to the shops around the island, plantation, and church. It’s where you and Master Blair’s wedding was held.”
Mable raised an eyebrow and looked at Blair.
She remembered Tracey mentioning that their reconciled wedding was in a Bay Island church.
"Mabes, you might not remember, but that's okay. I'll take photos for you when I’m there," Zoe chirped.
Mable smiled. "Sure. Enjoy your time there, but take good care of yourself. Don't overexert yourself."
“Don't worry. I'll take good care of Zoe,” Kyle added.
