Chapter 1239
Blair never had high expectations for his birthday.
However, this year, he looked forward to it because Mable had promised to give him a birthday present he wanted. He had already told her what he wanted.
Mable contemplated momentarily and said, "Blair, how about we take the children to Mair Manor tomorrow to celebrate your birthday? What do you think?"
Blair hugged Mable's shoulder and gently pecked her lips. "It's up to you. I'll go with whatever you decide."
"Then it's settled."
Mable looked at Blair. Since she had returned to the country with him, today was the happiest day she had experienced in a long time.
Lemon did not inherit the Necro Poison, which meant Blair did not have to die, and Mable did not have to make a choice.
Mable took a deep breath, feeling a sense of relief wash over her.
Back home, Blair carried Lemon out of the car. As Mable followed him inside, her phone rang.
She picked it up and saw that it was Jeremiah's call.
Mable answered, "Hi, Jeremiah."
Blair turned to look at her when he heard Mable's voice.
Why was Jeremiah calling?
"Are you busy, Astrid?"
"Not really; I just got back from the hospital."
Jeremiah's voice was filled with concern as he said, "Back from the hospital? Astrid, what happened?"
"Jeremiah, I'm fine. It's about Little Lemon."
Mable paused and continued, "Little Lemon was supposed to get her vaccination today, and I just took her to get it."
Her brother now had a good relationship with Rory. If he found out that Little Lemon did not inherit the Necro Poison and told Rory, things might become more complicated.
Since Rory intended to deceive her, Mable decided to pretend she knew nothing for now and see what he planned to do next.
Jeremiah sighed in relief. "So that's it. I thought something was wrong with you."
Mable reassured him, "I'm fine. Everything is good, don't worry.
"Jeremiah, is there something you want to talk about?"
Jeremiah's eyes had a teasing glint as he said, "Can't I call my sister without a reason? You've been in Richworth for so long but rarely call me."
Mable hurriedly replied, "That's not what I meant. I thought you had something to discuss with me."
Jeremiah continued, "Has Rory contacted you in the past few days?"
Mable furrowed her brows slightly. "In the past few days? No, why?"
Jeremiah said, "Really? I heard he went to Croquen, so I thought he might have gone to see you."
As soon as she heard that Rory had come to Croquen, Mable suddenly felt unease.
"Rory came to Croquen? When did this happen?"
Jeremiah answered, "Yesterday, I think. We had a meeting planned for yesterday, but his secretary contacted me at the last minute and said he wasn't in Italee and had gone abroad. I found out later that he went to Croquen."
Yesterday? Considering the time difference, Rory might already be in Richworth.
Mable asked with a hint of anxiety, "Do you know why Rory came to Croquen?"
Jeremiah replied, "I don't know about that, but seeing how hastily he left, something significant might have happened over there."
Something significant?
Mable could not help but feel uneasy.
"Astrid, are you doing okay in Richworth? Is Blair treating you well?"
Mable relaxed her tone and replied, "I'm doing fine, and Blair, he's treating me very well."
Upon hearing her words, Jeremiah fell silent on the other end of the line.
