Chapter 1236
This morning, Mable was still thinking about taking Lemon to see Wilbur in the afternoon but then got delayed again because of her sudden fainting.
No matter what, she would take Lemon to see Wilbur tomorrow.
Mable hardly slept a wink that night.
Whenever she closed her eyes, she saw Blair's expression when he made the will.
At that time, she should not have had much time to live. So why did he leave all his assets to her in the will?
From the way he spoke, it seemed like he was the one with little time left to live.
The more Mable thought about it, the more doubts filled her heart.
She looked at the man lying beside her. For the first time, she felt that perhaps she had done something wrong.
…
Due to Mable's sudden fainting episode, Blair did not go to the company the next day. Instead, he stayed at home to accompany her.
Mable was thinking of finding an excuse to take Lemon out in the morning when she suddenly received a call from Wilbur.
On the phone, Wilbur spoke with great certainty, "Mable, I want to know who told you that your daughter inherited the Necro Poison inside you?"
Facing Wilbur's question, Mable, although puzzled, told him, "It was Rory."
Wilbur seemed somewhat surprised. "Rory?”
‘This kid...’ he thought.
Mable paused and asked, "Mr. Hammond, why are you suddenly asking me this?"
There was a silence on the other end of the phone for a few seconds before Wilbur said, "He has deceived you."
"Mr. Hammond, why would you say that?"
Then, Mable heard Wilbur saying, "Mable, I can assure you that your daughter did not inherit the Necro Poison inside you. Rory has deceived you."
Mable froze in disbelief.
“Rory deceived me?"
Mable looked at Lemon, who was playing with Blair in the garden.
Rory had deceived her, and Lemon was healthy. Had she not inherited the Necro Poison?
However, when they were in Italee, she had Lemon checked, and she was indeed poisoned.
Moreover, the blood test results showed data consistent with having Necro Poison.
What was going on?
"Mr. Hammond, how certain are you?"
Mable still had doubts about Wilbur's words. He had never seen Lemon, so how could he be so sure that she had not inherited the Necro Poison?
Wilbur replied, "Necro Poison cannot be inherited."
"But nothing is absolute; what if—"
Mable had not finished her sentence when Wilbur spoke again. "Mable, if you don't believe it, you can take your daughter for another examination."
"Okay, I understand, Mr. Hammond. Thank you."
Mable hung up the phone and went to the garden.
Blair was picking flowers from a tree while holding Lemon. Lemon reached out and picked a camellia flower.
"Mommy." Seeing her mother approaching, Lemon handed the flower to her.
"You're such a good girl."
Mable took the flower, gently rubbed Lemon's cheek, and then looked at Blair. "Blair, I want to take Little Lemon to the hospital."
"To the hospital?"
Mable suppressed her thoughts and smiled. "Yes. I thought since there’s nothing planned today, I’d take her for a checkup."
Since bringing Lemon to Richworth, Mable has never taken her for a checkup.
Blair stared at Mable without saying much, nodded, and said, "Alright, I'll accompany you."
"Great. I'll go upstairs and change my clothes, and I'll be down soon."
After saying that, Mable hurriedly went upstairs.
Blair watched Mable's hurried steps and guessed that Wilbur had called her.
