Chapter 1235

Upon hearing the doctor's inquiry, Mable's eyes flickered, and her hand, hidden beneath the blanket, clenched into a fist. Worried by Mable's silence, Blair asked, "Mabes, what's wrong?" Mable shook her head. "It's nothing. I was just thinking. I suddenly had a headache without any apparent trigger." Mable lied because she did not want Blair to know she had secretly read his will. "Have you experienced this before?" The doctor inquired. Mable shook her head again. "No." "You did once," Blair reminded her. "You had a brief headache in the car a few days ago. Maybe it just wasn't as severe as this time." With his reminder, Mable recalled, "You're right; there was such an instance. However, this time, the headache lasted longer and was more intense." The doctor asked, "Mrs. Fowler, have you had any head injuries before?" Before Mable could respond, Blair answered, "She fell from a cliff a few years ago, injuring her head and suffering from amnesia for two years. She has since recovered, though." "Any previous medical records?" "Yes, I'll have the electronic files sent over," Blair replied. Mable watched as Blair talked to the doctor about her condition, realizing he truly understood her. Mable suddenly remembered the will he had written. Perhaps she should think carefully about whose words hold the truth. ‘What was the truth behind those unpleasant memories in the past?’ Recent events had left her increasingly perplexed, but Mable was no fool. … After the examination, Mable stayed in the hospital for observation before being discharged. When she returned home, it was already late. Upon hearing about his mother's collapse when he returned from school in the afternoon, Spike was distraught and wanted to visit her in the hospital. However, Blair had forbidden it. Fortunately, both Blair and Mable returned that evening. Spike stood behind his mother and massaged her shoulders. "Mommy, let me give you a relaxing shoulder massage. Have you been working too hard lately, which caused you to faint?" Nicki looked at Mable with a worried expression. "Aunt Mabes, when Hubert and I heard you were sick after school, we were so worried. Thank god you're okay." "Don't worry, both of you. I've had a check-up, and I'm fine," Mable reassured them, feeling uneasy that the children had been so concerned. Mable took a sip of tea and then looked at Aunt Grace. "Where's Little Lemon?" "Madam, Miss Lemon ate something a while ago and has already gone to bed. Master Blair went upstairs to check on her," Aunt Grace replied. As Aunt Grace finished speaking, Blair came downstairs. "Has Little Lemon already gone to sleep?" Mable asked. "She's already asleep. You should go upstairs and rest, too," Blair suggested. Looking at Spike and Nicki, he added, "It's getting late, and you both have school tomorrow." "Okay, Uncle Blair," replied Nicki. Spike said earnestly. "Daddy, take good care of Mom, okay?" Blair ruffled Spike's hair. "I will." Before Mable went back to her room, she made a quick visit to Lemon's room. Sitting on the edge of the bed, she watched her sleeping daughter with an expression full of love. Blair stood behind Mable, placing his hands on her shoulders. "Aunt Grace told us that Little Lemon was very well-behaved tonight. She didn't cry or fuss when we weren't with her. After dinner, Nicki and Spike even played with her for a while." Mable nodded but remained silent. She reached out and gently caressed Lemon's cheek. "What's wrong?" Blair asked, noticing Mable's troubled expression. Mable snapped out of her thoughts. "It's nothing. Let's go back to our room." The last time Mable went to see Wilbur, she mentioned Necro Poison. Initially, she was supposed to take Lemon to see him the next day, but something had come up, delaying their visit.
