Chapter 3814

“I can’t eat that much. You made so many dishes that I got full just by tasting a little of each. I even had a bowl of soup.” Serenity started cleaning up and refused to eat more. Zachary immediately stopped her. “I’ll clean up. You can head out and talk to Nana. Josh and Jasmine will come over for dinner tonight.” “You can leave some soup for Jasmine tonight.” Serenity was delighted to hear that her friend was coming. There was finally someone who could share her nutritional meals with her. Serenity’s in-laws were less strict about food than Josh’s dietician cousin, Rebecca. However, Rebecca had also recently lifted some restrictions on Jasmine. Jasmine’s bump was bigger than Serenity’s, and she was a month ahead of Serenity. Rebecca said there was no need to follow a nutritional meal plan since the baby had already grown a lot. Jasmine could eat normal meals, but she was still not allowed to have junk food and certain foods that should be avoided during pregnancy. She dared not eat any of those things either. Before she ate anything, she would always check whether it was safe for pregnant women beforehand. “Okay. Jasmine can share some of your food. I won’t force you to eat if you’re full. You don’t have to feel burdened,” said Zachary as he cleared the table. Whenever he cooked at home, he would do all the cleaning himself instead of leaving it to the maids. Everyone knew that he preferred doing it whenever he was alone with Serenity. He felt it was the correct lifestyle of an ordinary husband and wife. Although he was born into a wealthy family, he was still an ordinary human. He liked living a mundane, married life with Serenity. While it could feel uninteresting sometimes, they were happy. It allowed them to experience different emotions. All staff members of Wildridge Manor noticed that the cold Mr. Zachary York had become friendlier ever since Serenity married him. Although he still had an icy personality, they knew there was a soft spot in his heart, thanks to Serenity. Zachary’s popularity in the manor had decreased slightly. The staff liked listening to Serenity more. They thought she was more approachable than him. If they faced any trouble, they simply had to inform Serenity about it to solve the issue. As for Zachary, they dared not inform him or count on him for help. Telling Serenity was equivalent to letting Zachary know anyway. If Serenity could not handle the matter, she would get Zachary to help. It was more effective than them seeking Zachary’s assistance directly. They also knew Serenity was Zachary’s weakness. She would be the head missus in the future and be in charge of all the family's internal affairs. Zachary would be pleased if he saw their loyalty and adoration toward Serenity. “Don’t take Nana’s words earlier seriously, Seren. I have no preference for the baby’s sex. As long as it’s a child of York, I’ll love the child regardless.” Zachary was worried that Serenity would feel pressured to give birth to a baby girl. “I didn’t take it to heart. Nana probably just found it unfortunate. If I were her, I would’ve been desperate to have a great-granddaughter too.” She could understand Grandma May’s desire for a great-granddaughter. If Serenity also had three sons, who would give her nine more grandsons and no granddaughters, she would probably have a headache too. If Grandma May were fated only to have great-grandsons, she would have eighteen great-grandsons if each of them had two sons… Serenity found it horrifying just from thinking about it. Well, the heavens would always give someone the opposite of what they wished for most of the time. Who did not want to have both sons and daughters? Serenity wished to have sons and daughters as well. It had nothing to do with favoritism toward a specific sex. She simply thought it would only feel right and perfect if she had children of both sexes.
