Chapter 3810

“One year should be enough time. Us York men are all outstanding and irresistibly charming.” Zachary lumped himself in with the compliment while praising his younger brother. He believed his charm was boundless and, truthfully, it was. Serenity turned to look at him with a smile. “Yes, yes, you York men are all incredibly charming. Actually, though, what’s most attractive is your family culture. The men in your family dote on their wives and are completely devoted in their relationships.” They had a good family culture, had good character, and were utterly devoted to their partners—these were all incredibly attractive. Any family with daughters of marriageable age would wish for their daughters to marry into the York family; not for wealth, but for the devoted love of the York men. “What about Sonny?” “He’s already gone off to have fun with Rowan. I don’t know if they’re going wild somewhere in the manor or down by the foot of the hill, but with Rowan watching over him, there’s no need to worry.” “I’m not worried about him. There are plenty of people to look after him here at home, so I’m not worried at all.” Serenity sighed again, “But his father… Sometimes, I really want to yell at him. Hank’s always saying those things to Sonny, making him worry that my sister won’t love him anymore, or that Duncan will stop liking him. He even said that if my sister had a second child, she wouldn’t want him anymore. I really wanted to curse him on the car ride here, but I held back because Sonny was there. It nearly drove me crazy.” Serenity sighed in relief, “Luckily, Liberty and Hank are divorced now.” Zachary fell silent for a moment before replying, “He’s just jealous that Liberty is doing better than he is. If she wasn’t doing well, he’d be acting completely differently.” In the end, the best revenge on a cheating husband was for the wife to live a better life than he ever could. “That’s right, he’s just jealous. His whole family is the same.” Serenity turned to look at him again, smiling, “You’re still the best. After all, a good foundation fosters good character. Thank you for marrying me without any additional conditions back then. Without you, my sister’s and my fate would never have changed.” Zachary affectionately responded, “Honey, it’s mutual. We must have saved the world in our past lives together so we could be together forever in this life and love each other with all our hearts. Meeting you, and falling in love with you, was my good fortune. Without you, I don’t even know if I would have ever gotten married. Serenity said, “You’re so outstanding. As long as you wanted to, you could have gotten married anytime.” “If it was a loveless marriage, sure. A mutual, enduring love of a lifetime is what’s difficult to achieve—to understand and trust each other through it all.” Thinking about their own rushed marriage of convenience, Zachary added, “If it had been anyone else, I might not have been moved. Maybe we would have gotten divorced after Nana passed—but because it’s you, I was moved to pursue this love of a lifetime.” “Babe, I’ve noticed that you’re getting better and better at sweet-talking—it’s as sweet as honey.” “It’s the truth from the bottom of my heart. I’m not just trying to flatter you.” “I know. I never said you were lying to me.” Serenity affectionately linked her arm through his. As they reached the stairs, they saw Grandma May sitting on the sofa in the living room. Julian and Quinn were seated across from her, while Tania sat off to the side, and the group was chatting happily. Grandma May really liked Quinn. Knowing that Quinn was Julian’s fated partner, she refrained from setting her sights on her. However, considering the relationship between the Yorks and Buchams, Quinn still had to call her “Grandma May”. After all, she was considered part of the family. The good fortune had stayed within the family, so Grandma May could accept it. Hearing footsteps on the stairs, the group looked up and saw Zachary and Serenity coming downstairs. Grandma May’s and Tania’s smiles grew wider.
