Chapter 3805

Sonny nodded but still repeated, “Dunc won't stop liking me.” However, the part about Mom not having enough time for him was true, as was the case for the past few months. Since she had not had the time for him, he had been living with Aunt Ser and Uncle Zak. After a brief silence, Hank said softly, “If your mom and Duncan have another baby, they’ll favor their own child, and they might not love you as much.” “That won't happen, Dad, it won’t happen! Mom said that even if she has a baby with Dunc, she will still love me the most. Aunt Ser also said the same thing.” Sonny immediately refuted his father's words. “I’m just saying it might—it won’t necessarily end up that way. Anyway, remember to stay close to your Aunt Serenity, she won’t be biased.” Serenity was purely just an aunt, and all of Liberty’s children would be her nieces and nephews regardless. She would probably be able to treat everyone equally. However, if Liberty and Duncan had another child in the future, they might show favoritism toward their own child and ignore Sonny. Sonny pouted. “You always say that. You just don’t like Mom and Dunc being together. You always think he’s a bad person and say bad things about him. Dad, I know I’m young, but don’t bluff me just because of that. I know who’s good and who’s bad. Dunc isn’t a bad person, he won’t stop liking me. He said that he liked me first, before he slowly started to like Mom. He’s not being nice to me just to please Mom. Dad, you’re too narrow-minded.” Hank was quiet for a moment before he conceded, “Okay, okay, it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have said those things. Sonny, don’t be angry, okay? I won’t say these things again. Just remember that no matter what, I’m always your dad. If you ever feel wronged or don’t want to live with your mom anymore, you can come back to Dad. I might not be as rich as your mom, but you’re my only child, and I’ll do anything to raise you well. You’ll have my undivided love.” Sonny said, “I won’t hate Mom, and I won’t hate Dunc. I want to always stay with Mom. I don’t like living with Grandmom, and I don’t like playing with Lucas and the rest. They always like to steal my things. Even if I refuse to give it to Lucas, Grandmom always helps him, even saying that when I have money in the future, I should give it to Lucas and help him. But why should I give my money to him? Why should I help him? He bullies me, but I’m not easy to bully now. “Grandmom always says Lucas and I are family, but Lucas doesn’t treat me like family. I know what it’s really like. Laurence treats me well and considers me his brother, but Lucas doesn’t treat me the same way. And Aunt Chel too—she always asks me how much money Mom and I have and tells me to give her some.” Hank paled with anger. He did not doubt that his son was lying; he knew very well what kind of people his mother and sister were. They were upset that he would not divorce Jessica and remarry Liberty, so they were trying to take advantage of the situation and set their sights on Sonny. Now that Liberty had changed, they could not get anything from her and were trying to win Sonny over, saying things like that in front of him. Sonny, though clever for his age, was still just a child. He might not fully understand right from wrong, but he could remember what Grandmom and Aunt Chel said and repeat it to the adults. No wonder Liberty preferred it when his family visited Sonny instead of letting them pick Sonny up for a stay. Serenity’s attitude toward them was growing colder too. If he were not Sonny’s real father, it would be hard for him to even see Sonny. Maybe Liberty and Serenity thought it was him who said all those things in front of Sonny. “Sonny, don’t listen to your Grandmom and Aunt Chel. Your money is yours, you don’t have to give anything to Lucas. You work hard for what you have, so why should you give him a leg up? Can’t he work hard himself? “Your Aunt Chel’s family isn’t poor, but they always want to take advantage. They really haven’t changed. I’ll have a good talk with Grandmom when I get home. From now on, if I want to see you, I’ll come visit you. I won’t take you back home so that Grandmom can’t say those things in front of you.”
