Chapter 3806
Hank knew the last time Olivia had taken money from him to give to his sister, Chelsea, she went out to eat with her husband, children, and in-laws, without even inviting their parents. When she saw Serenity was dining at the same restaurant, she wanted Serenity to pay for her party’s meal.
Serenity refused, so Chelsea called Olivia and asked for money to cover the expense. Did his sister have no money? No—she did have money. In the past, their parents' pension and the allowance he gave them were all used to support his sister's family. Chelsea and her husband saved the entirety of their incomes and probably had up to several million in savings. He used to earn a lot and did not care about money, but now that he was relying on ride-hailing hires to make a living, times had gotten tough, and he had started to care more about money.
Although he was very touched that Chelsea saved him and even got hurt in the process when Jessica attacked him back then, it did not mean she could keep taking advantage of him or their parents. It was one thing for her to take advantage of him, but now she was even thinking of exploiting Sonny.
That was something Hank could not tolerate. He had lost his temper with Olivia the last time, and she had promised not to give any more financial support to Chelsea’s family. Yet, his mother still kept spending time with Chelsea and making plans to brainwash Sonny into becoming an enabling doormat who would always unconditionally help his cousins to his detriment.
How could Hank not be upset about that? Liberty and Sonny were only in their current situation thanks to Serenity’s support after marrying into a wealthy family. Serenity was devoted to her family, but she also had boundaries.
If Sonny truly became an enabling doormat in the future, unconditionally helping his two cousins, would Serenity still continue to support him? No, she would not. Serenity disliked Chelsea’s whole family the most.
“Sonny, from now on, don’t listen to what your Grandmom or Aunt Chel says. Don’t take it to heart, okay?”
Sonny nodded. “Aunt Ser told me to just take whatever they say as farts and to not pay attention to them.”
“Exactly. Just treat it like nonsense and ignore them, but just know that I don’t think the same. In the future, you only have to see me and Granddad. But even Granddad, you should see less of him. He’s a bit biased toward them.”
Sonny nodded again. Hank’s customer came to urge him, so he had no choice but to lift Sonny and walk toward Serenity and the others.
Reluctantly, he kissed his son on the cheek, then handed him over to Zachary, saying apologetically, “I haven’t seen Sonny in a long time, so I took a little longer to talk to him. Sorry for keeping you all waiting.”
Zachary took Sonny and replied calmly, “You’re Sonny’s dad. As long as you want to see him, you can visit him anytime.”
However, it would be good if Hank took Sonny back to the Browns’ house less often. Every time Sonny came home after visiting them, he would be unhappy.
Hank smiled and said, “I drive every day, so I don’t have much time. But for Christmas, I might not have to work. I’ll take Sonny out to play for a couple of days then.”
Zachary simply hummed in acknowledgment.
