Chapter 3803

Serenity replied mildly, “Nana’s arranged for a driver to pick us up, so we didn’t need to call a cab. Sonny fell asleep on the plane. Are you here to pick up a customer?” She glanced at the car Hank had parked not far away. “Yes, my customer is returning from out of town for Christmas. They pre-booked a cab, and I picked up the order. I’ve been waiting here for quite a while to meet them.” “Sonny, Sonny,” Hank softly called out to his son. After the winter break started, Sonny went with Serenity to stay with the Johnsons. Hank had originally wanted to bring his son home to stay for a while so that his parents could enjoy some family time, but in the end, Sonny went with Serenity instead. Unable to bring his son back for a visit, his parents complained about it, saying that he did not visit Sonny and did not bring him home to stay often enough. Then, Sonny would forget all about his real father and paternal grandparents if he did not spend more time with them. After all, Liberty and Duncan would eventually get married and when that happened, Sonny would have a new father. Then, he would probably forget all about his biological father. Sonny had been asleep for quite a while now, and now that he had had enough rest, he was slowly waking up. After Hank called his name a few times, he groggily opened his eyes. At first, he thought he was seeing things because it was not his uncle. After rubbing his eyes, he looked again, and upon recognizing his father, he called out in surprise, “Dad.” He thought to himself was he not just being held by his uncle? How was it that he was now seeing his father? Was he dreaming? Hank saw his son was awake and immediately reached over to take Sonny from Rowan's arms. Rowan only let go when he saw that Zachary and Serenity did not object, allowing Hank to take his son. When Hank and Liberty were going through their divorce, his parents took Sonny away back to their hometown. At the time, Zachary had called on the rest of the York brothers to help, and they went over to help bring Sonny back. Rowan was still in school at the time and had not been involved, but after hearing about it, he did not feel any goodwill toward Hank or his family. Not to mention, the Browns had kept causing trouble for Liberty afterward, refusing to leave her alone. They were just jealous that Liberty was living a better life after leaving Hank, which was why they kept pestering her and did not want her to be happy. None of them were good people. “Dad,” Sonny called out again. Hank responded affectionately, kissing his son’s little face and holding him close, his love for his son evident in every gesture as never seen before. “Sonny, Sonny.” He kept saying his son’s name. “Did you have fun, Sonny?” Hank asked. Sonny nodded. “Yeah, I had a lot of fun.” Zachary and the others stepped aside to give the father and son a moment to be together. From time to time, Sonny glanced at his aunt, worried that she might leave him behind and not take him home. “Dad, are you here to pick me and Aunt Ser up?” Hank kissed his son’s little face again and replied, “I didn’t know you guys were coming back today. I came to pick up a customer. Your aunt's family has already arranged for someone to fetch you from the airport, so there’s no need for me to.” Plus, Serenity probably would rather take the bus than ride in his car. “Sonny, has your mom come back yet?” Hank asked his son in a whisper. “When is she coming back?” Sonny answered honestly, “Mom said she won’t be back until a few days later, but that she’ll be back in time for Christmas.”
