Chapter 3802

Rowan was speechless. Serenity chuckled, “It’ll be the same no matter when you see him. Affection is something that’s cultivated. After the baby is born, you’ll have time to hold him, play with him, and the bond will grow—then it’ll feel like you’re close to him.” She could already foresee that after her baby was born, he would become the family’s little darling. The members of the York family were numerous but hers would be the only baby, so everyone would dote on him immensely. Rowan pitifully said, “Nothing good ever makes its way to me because I’m the youngest.” Zachary responded, “Once you get married and have your own kids, you’ll be able to make sure that your child sees you first when he’s born, but you can forget about that for your nephew.” Rowan said, “I’m still so young—it’ll be at least another eleven or twelve years before I get married and have kids. In fact, it might take a little longer, like fourteen or fifteen years. Aren’t you only just becoming a father at thirty-two?” After a speechless pause, Zachary replied, “Must you follow my example?” “You’re my idol. I want to be just like you.” “Then when we head back later I’ll give you some more workbooks. I’ve done hundreds of times more workbooks than you. You can follow my example in that respect.” Rowan immediately shouted, “Serenity, did you hear what he said? He just can’t stand it when I’m enjoying myself. I’ve been working so hard at school that all I think about when I wake up every day is studying, studying, and studying. Now that I finally have a break, Zack won’t even let me relax a little.” Zachary asked him, “Do you feel pressured?” Rowan admitted, “I don’t feel pressured about getting into college, but if it’s about getting into the same ones you guys went to, I definitely feel all the stress.” Serenity laughed and said, “Then that’s basically no pressure at all. Your big brother is just teasing you. He won’t actually give you any workbooks. Babe, stop scaring Rowan and let him relax a little. How about going on a trip? There are still a few days left until Christmas. You can take a few days to travel and come back. Why not call your friends, head up north to see the snow, and tour the area?” Rowan said, “I’m not going. They all want to play games. I’ll just stay and have fun here in Wiltspoon for a few days.” “Perfect, then you can help take care of Sonny.” Rowan was speechless. “Gain some baby-care experience. That way you’ll know how to coax your nephew. Didn’t you want him to be close to you?” Rowan still could not come up with anything to say to that. He felt like Zachary was kind of picking on him. Was it because he was jealous that he and Serenity were talking and laughing together? “Serenity?” a voice called out from a distance, slightly doubtful. Everyone turned to look, only to see Hank. Hank had come to fetch a customer from the airport. When Serenity looked over at him, he confirmed that standing before him was his former sister-in-law and her husband, with his very own son, Sonny. Sonny was being held by a young man. Hank had to peer at them for a moment before he remembered that the person holding Sonny was Rowan. In the past, Zachary had kept his identity hidden, and when his family had made a visit, Hank and Liberty had not divorced yet, so they had met with the Yorks in their capacity as Serenity’s relatives. Hank had met all of the York sons, but there were quite a few of them that he did not have a clear memory of. He told his customer to wait for a moment and then quickly jogged over, his gaze first landing on his son’s small figure. “Serenity, did you guys just get back today? Have you called for a cab?” Hank asked, then reached out to gently touch Sonny’s little face, a soft look in his eyes. “Sonny’s asleep, huh?”
