Chapter 3790
Louis was worried that Austin might not have enough money, so he would check in occasionally, “Austin, do you have enough money? If not, you can call my mom and have her transfer some money to you.”
Austin laughed and replied, “I have enough. I can afford it even if you buy two more sets of clothes for your big sister.”
The clothes they bought for Isabella were first picked out by Austin before Louis approved and agreed to buy them as a gift for his sister.
“Isa has a lot of clothes, but she rarely wears jewelry. How about I buy her some jewelry? Austin, do you have enough money?”
Already carrying several bags, Austin still lovingly said, “As long as it’s for your big sister, I have enough money to pay for it no matter how much you buy.”
The little boy was very happy and asked Austin to take them to a jewelry store to buy what he thought were beautiful pieces for Isabella.
It was already dark when Austin finally took the little ones back home. They had spent so much time shopping that by the time they arrived at the O'Connor family’s mansion, it was already dinner time. Naturally, other chefs in the mansion had prepared the meal.
Isabella did not come home for dinner, so the other chefs finally had the chance to show off their skills. They might not be as good as Austin, but they could still satisfy the tastes of the others in the house.
After spending the day with Austin, the two little ones had gotten closer to him and begged for him to have dinner with them. They liked hearing him tell stories.
Delphine, seeing how persistent the boys were, smiled at Austin and said, “Austin, why don’t you stay and have dinner with us? Isabella isn’t home and she won’t know, so she won’t say anything.”
Austin smiled gently, “Thank you, Madam Delphine, and thank you, Mr. Louis, Mr. Phillip, but I’m just a chef. I think I’d better go eat in the workers’ quarters.”
Unless Isabella personally invited him to dine, Austin would not break the O'Connor family rules. After all, he was still just one of many chefs in the house. He could not take advantage of his position just because the two little young masters liked him.
Delphine thought for a moment. She did not press the matter further. The two little ones did not insist after thinking of their stern sister and reluctantly watched as Austin left the dining room.
After having his dinner, Austin returned to his dormitory. He sank into the couch, leaning back against it, feeling exhausted from the day of shopping. They had been out for most of the day, and without bodyguards, he had to carry all the things they bought. He had effectively been their bodyguard for the day.
He did not actually enjoy shopping unless it was a food street where he could try various snacks. Whenever he tasted something good, he would study how to make it even better than the original.
To please his future in-laws, Austin sacrificed his time and energy shopping for a good portion of the day. He was at least thankful that neither of the little ones asked him to carry or hold them while walking.
After a brief rest, Austin took out his phone and video-called his nana. It took a while for her to pick up.
“Nana, are you asleep?” Seeing that Grandma May was still full of energy and had not yet changed into her nightgown, Austin knew his question was unnecessary. Grandma May turned the phone around to show him her surroundings.
Austin laughed and said, “Grandma, it’s so cold, and it’s already dark. You’re still out dancing with them?”
At the foot of the hill, women of various ages—from the elderly to the middle-aged, and even the young—had gathered in the large open space in front of the flower fields to dance.
When the leader of the dance saw that Grandma May had answered a call, she lowered the volume on the speakers so the call would not be disturbed by the noise.
“It’s not cold here in Wiltspoon. It’s cold where you are. Did you not go out? You look like you’re in your dormitory. I was bored, so when they were dancing, I decided to join in. I’m just having some fun. They usually finish around half-past eight in the evening, so it won’t disturb the younger folks’ rest.”
