Chapter 3791
The people gathered to dance were the staff’s family members. The staff and their families were considerate of each other because they were neighbors and co-workers. The dancing ladies would not be selfish and draw hate just because they wanted to dance.
Austin smiled. “That’s great. It’s fun and a great use of spare time.”
He knew his nana was a playful old lady.
In the past, she had been busy searching for suitable partners for the York brothers. Now, even he already had a target to pursue.
Although River and Alex were adults, they were still young. It had not even been two years since they started working. Therefore, Grandma May was not anxious about their marriage.
Rowan was off limits because he was still studying in high school.
Grandma May had nothing to do, and she could not travel because it was the end of the year. Hence, she would talk to her friends or join their dance sessions.
“Of course. I’m enjoying myself before your nephew is born. I won’t have time to have fun when he arrives because I’ll be busy looking after him.”
Austin laughed. “You’re speaking as if you have to take care of the baby.
“We have many people looking after the baby. You just have to watch over the baby.
“By the way, I thought you believed Serenity’s baby would be a girl. Why did you change your mind?”
Grandma May grinned. “My opinion doesn’t matter. Sonny insists that Serenity’s baby is a little brother, not a little sister. The York family is filled with men. I don’t have daughters or granddaughters. I’m hoping my wish of having a great-granddaughter will come true.
“Have you made any progress? You won’t be back for Christmas, right? We’ll be entering a new year a few days after that. If you aren’t returning, your parents and I can go to Satbury to celebrate the festive season with you. We can visit our future in-laws as well.”
Grandma May said so on purpose.
Despite knowing it, Austin still feared his nana would really visit the O’Connors with his parents during the festive season.
He quickly said, “It hasn’t been long since I arrived, Nana. You can’t expect too much progress. I guess there’s still hope because I’m not fired yet.”
“Not much time has passed? I thought you'd been there for half a year.”
Grandma May added, “I don’t remember. Maybe it’s Kevin who has left for half a year. Ah, I have too many grandsons. I can’t remember each of your statuses sometimes because I’m old. I might be getting dementia.
“It’s all Zachary’s fault. He doesn’t let me go out and makes me stay home every day. I’m bored because I don’t even have a great-granddaughter to take care of. Being bored makes me forgetful.”
Austin replied, “Do you think you’re eighteen, Nana? You’re already over eighty. I’ve never seen any other old lady running around as often as you do.
“Zachary is doing it for your own good.”
Grandma May pouted. “Okay. Let’s not talk about him. He should be back soon. I won’t go on a trip during this period anyway.”
“I miss you, Nana,” said Austin out of the blue.
Grandma May was stunned before beaming brightly. “Where did that come from all of a sudden? Did you get bullied there?”
Since Austin had gone to work as a chef for the O’Connors, she thought he was having a tough time adjusting to his changed identity. She consoled him, saying, “Every job deserves respect. Cooking has been your hobby all along.
“Isn’t it great that you’re doing what you like for a living? Besides, you’re cooking for your future wife. A year is more than enough to capture her stomach and make her attached to you.
“If that’s not the case, did she criticize the food you made?”
Austin said, “Do I have to be bullied or criticized to miss you, Nana?”
“Of course. I thought you were feeling down because you suddenly said you missed me. However, I believe you and your brothers are thick-faced and mentally strong. You all won’t crumble from some criticism or nitpicking.”
