Chapter 1629 Fighting Alone

"What's wrong?" Margot asked in confusion. Benjamin held her tightly as if making sure that this wasn't a dream. After a while, he finally spoke, "Why didn't you tell me about what happened this afternoon?" Just a moment ago, he had asked about Margot, and Dylan had told him about what happened earlier. He felt his heart sink, wanting nothing more than to meet with Margot immediately. This was a serious matter! Why didn't she tell him about it? Was he that unreliable to her? Margot understood immediately. "I did want to tell you. But when I arrived here, I was so exhausted that I only decided to tell you after waking up. But I ended up sleeping the whole afternoon." She spoke casually, "As you can see, I'm perfectly fine. My gut feelings are never wrong. I felt something was wrong when I got in the car and immediately got off." She even did a twirl in front of Benjamin to prove her point. However, Benjamin was furious. His expression grew grim, and he gave Margot a stern look. "You'd better make sure there won't be a next time, or I'll teach you a lesson!" "I've learned from my mistake." Margot immediately apologized. "Look, I got scared, too. Can you please leave it be? Let's go and grab some food, okay?" Benjamin couldn't stand her puppy eyes. Although his heart was still racing, his expression relaxed. He walked over and opened the passenger seat door. "Get in." "Alright." Margot immediately got into the car and fastened her seatbelt. Even though she didn't get anyone to inform Benjamin about the explosion, he had still found out about it. She had to make it up to him. After all, she had kept it a secret from him. Benjamin got into the car and frowned at her. "It seems like it's dangerous for you to drive. I'll hire a driver for you. Contact him whenever you need to go somewhere." Margot paused. "That sounds troublesome." Benjamin looked at her coldly. "What did you say?" Margot immediately corrected herself. "Nothing. Whatever you say goes." Benjamin's expression softened at that. He started the car, heading toward the restaurant. Margot asked, "How did it go at the Inkling family?" Benjamin sneered. "Trevor wants to protect his youngest son, Lance." Lance was the illegitimate son of the Inkling family. Margot furrowed her brows. "Doesn't he care about you?" Benjamin huffed. "I'm his lover's son. Of course, he doesn't care about me." Margot's heart ached. Scenes from her past life flashed through her mind. Trevor's wife was Victoria, Lance's mother. When she went to the Inkling family in her past life, Victoria was very pleased with her. Margot had thought that she gained her mother-in-law's approval. Only now did she learn that Victoria wasn't Benjamin's mother. Victoria had agreed to let her and Benjamin be together because she couldn't compete with those aristocratic ladies. If Benjamin had married her, it would have surely disappointed Shane. On the other hand, Lance had married a woman from a prestigious family. His wife had greatly benefited the Inkling Corporation. His status in Shane's heart had gradually changed. Margot pushed aside her thoughts. "It seems like this will be a long battle." Lance had Trevor's support, while Shane wanted both Benjamin and Lance to get along. But Benjamin wanted to drive Lance out of the Inkling family. It seemed that Benjamin was fighting this battle alone.
