Chapter 1627 Unwilling
Alex was surprised by Tamara's request. "What happened to her?"
Tamara explained Margot's situation to Alex with a worried look. "Mom, Margot is my best friend. I don't want anything bad to happen to her."
Alex's expression remained gentle as she nodded. "Alright, I can arrange for another bodyguard to protect you."
Tamara smiled. "Mom, I want to learn martial arts. It's better to learn it myself than to rely on others."
Alex mirrored her smile. "My Tammy is all grown up."
Tamara blushed slightly. "I'm already 18 years old. Of course, I've grown up."
Alex nodded with a smile. "Alright, I'll arrange for your martial arts lessons. But remember, you can't give up once you start learning."
"I won't." Tamara firmly nodded.
She headed upstairs, but Anthony blocked her path.
Tamara looked at him in confusion. "What's wrong?"
Anthony remained silent for a moment. "Miss, why are you giving me away to someone else?"
He appeared to be of a similar age to Tamara. Despite his impassive countenance and an air of chilly detachment, a trace of youthful vigor still lingered on his face.
Tamara blinked. "I'm not giving you away. I'm lending you to Margot. You'll come back again when there's no longer any danger around her."
Anthony's expression darkened, clearly indicating that he didn't want to go.
Tamara asked, "What's wrong?"
Anthony pursed his lips and reluctantly mumbled, "I understand, miss."
Tamara smiled. "Protect Margot well. As long as she's safe, I'll be fine too."
"Understood." Anthony nodded.
Tamara returned to her room, and her smile faded. She noticed that Anthony was acting strangely. He didn't seem to want to leave this place. Why?
As a bodyguard, shouldn't he unconditionally obey his employer? Over the years, he had been an excellent bodyguard. But ...
She looked at the couch, where Margot had already fallen asleep. She must be tired. Thinking back to what she had just told her, Tamara couldn't help but feel bad for her.
She must have been so scared when the explosion happened!
...
Margot slept until the evening before waking up. She was momentarily confused when she opened her eyes and saw the unfamiliar surroundings. Then, she quickly remembered where she was.
A thin blanket covered her, and Tamara was sitting on a chair, writing something.
"Tammy ..." Margot yawned and got up. "How long was I asleep?"
Tamara turned to her. "You slept the entire afternoon, and you even missed a call from Mr. Inkling."
"What?" Margot was stunned. She hurriedly took out her phone and saw that she had two missed calls. She immediately called back.
"Hello? Margot, where are you?" As soon as the call went through, she heard Benjamin's anxious voice.
Margot pouted. "I'm at Tammy's house. I was exhausted earlier and fell asleep. I didn't hear the phone ringing. You're not mad at me, are you?"
Benjamin's tone relaxed. "Nonsense. I'm on my way to pick you up now. Let's go out for dinner."
"Okay, I'll wait for you," Margot agreed and hung up the phone.
Tamara smiled at her. "By the way, I have a question. Does Mr. Inkling know about your incident from this afternoon?"
Margot shook her head. "I didn't ask anyone to inform him."
Tamara was puzzled. "Why not?"
Margot sat down next to her. "It's obvious that someone from the Inkling family had tampered with the car. Benjamin has already gone to the Inkling family, probably for negotiations.
"If I mention this now, the Inkling family might think I'm important to him, and they might set their eyes on me."
