Chapter 984 Will You Tell Me, or Should I Find out Myself?

Before I could speak, I was met with Idris’ deep, restrained eyes. Why was he here? "Yvette, you've finally arrived? Come sit." Sally did not address me as Ms. Scott this time. She affectionately used my first name and gestured for me to join them. I stiffly shifted my gaze from Idris, who was seated at the dining table too, and took a seat next to Sally. Sally had also brought along Ramona and Sonya. Ramona seemed under the weather, likely due to not being accustomed to the local climate. She rested her head on the table and stared around blankly. She managed a small smile at me and simply said, "Hello, Yvette." Meanwhile, Sonya took the seat next to me. The sweet-looking girl was quite the charmer. After I had seen through her act last time, I assumed she might be reluctant to talk to me. Surprisingly, she sweetly greeted, "Yvette, it’s good to see you again." Her tone made Ramona's earlier greeting seem somewhat awkward. Ramona's expression faltered for a moment, then she looked at me apologetically. It was as if she felt her greeting earlier seemed unfriendly, which might have seemed impolite to me. I offered her a reassuring smile to indicate it was fine. Then, looking at Sonya, I nodded with a smile. "Yes, good to see you too." Sally seemed not to notice the children's awkwardness. She turned to me and said, "Yvette, what were you up to this afternoon? Your assistant called me, and she was frantically looking for you. I thought you were with Mr. Young, and I was about to ask, but it turned out Mr. Young didn't know either. Do you still have unfinished business in Tully City?" I shook my head slightly and smiled. "No, I just met up with a friend and forgot to check my phone. Minerva can be a bit impulsive. She gets anxious if she can't reach me for a bit." She nodded, seemingly recalling something about Idris, and quickly said, "Oh, right, I meant to tell you. Mr. Young also happened to sign a contract with Sanchez Corp today. I thought, since we all know each other, why not have dinner together? You don't mind, do you?" I smiled lightly. "Why would I?" Turning to Idris, I unexpectedly met his dark gaze and momentarily paused before asking, "By the way, may I ask which of Sanchez Corp's plots of land caught Mr. Young's interest? If you came all the way in person, there must be some new project you're eyeing." Idris looked at me, his gaze filled with a somber darkness. I could not tell if it was just my imagination, but I felt like he had been scrutinizing me since I entered. Hearing my question, he slightly withdrew his gaze and said, "The plots of land near Tully City are intended for factory development. The labor costs in Tully City have been low in recent years, and with affordable land, it's suitable for manufacturing." I was a little surprised that he explained so clearly and directly to me. I had assumed his visit was related to the development of Newburn Village, but it turned out otherwise… Well, it seemed I was overthinking it. I nodded, finding myself at a loss for words momentarily. Fortunately, Sally called the waiter over to order, and with two teens around, the atmosphere was not awkward. The only discomfort was the inexplicable feeling that Idris's gaze seemed to linger on me. Near the end of the meal, I excused myself to go to the restroom. Just as I stepped out of the private room, Idris followed behind. Confused, I looked at him with suspicion. "Mr. Young, you need to use the restroom too?" He looked at me and asked, "Yvette, what were you doing today?" His question was somewhat baffling, prompting me to frown. "I just told you, I met with a friend." "What friend?" His tone was overly serious. Instinctively suspecting he might have discovered something, I became slightly defensive. "What does it matter to you who I meet? Mr. Young, at best, we are only friends, right? Aren’t you overstepping your bounds?" After saying that, I did not intend to continue the conversation and turned toward the restroom. However, after only a few steps, he suddenly grabbed my wrist. Before I could react, he pulled me into the restroom. Then, standing in front of the large mirror, he gripped my chin and said while facing the mirror, "Yvette, will you tell me, or should I find out myself?" Seeing the restrained anger in his reflection and following his gaze, I noticed the concealer covering the mark on my neck from the morning had been rubbed off after the day's activities. The bruise was now distinctly visible.
