Chapter 710
Third person's POV
At this moment, Gloria finally understood the difficult situation Tabitha had faced before—the helplessness and confusion, as if she were trapped in a dark abyss, unable to find even a glimmer of hope.
What puzzled her was that Alpha Leopold must have known about Tabitha's return to the States. Given his relationship with Derek, he couldn't possibly not inform him.
If Derek had learned that Tabitha was alive, it should have been a momentous occasion for him. How could he allow Tabitha to drift alone outside?
Could it be that he had truly come to terms with it and decided to let go completely?
However, Gloria preferred to believe in the saying, "A leopard can't change its spots."
She felt that even if Derek seemed inactive now, it was highly likely that he was secretly plotting a larger scheme, merely the calm before the storm.
After hanging up the phone, Tabitha's eyes flashed with worry.
Her heart was filled with concern for Gloria. She wondered how Gloria was doing and what had happened between her and Alpha Leopold.
From Gloria's demeanor during the call, it didn't seem like she was in a happy relationship. Rather, it felt as if she was burdened by something heavy.
Just then, her phone buzzed again. Tabitha looked at it and saw that it was a message from Gloria.
She had expected Gloria to send her some comforting words, but when she looked at the screen, she found only a brief message. [Be careful of Derek.]
Tabitha's heart skipped a beat, a sense of foreboding washing over her.
She quickly tried to call back, but the cold sound of a disconnected line greeted her—Gloria's phone was turned off.
"What does this mean? Does Gloria know something?" Tabitha paced back and forth in her room, feeling restless.
Her mind was filled with questions. What had happened with Gloria? Why had she suddenly turned off her phone?
Was she being threatened? Or was there some other hidden truth?
In the hospital, Gloria glared angrily at the man who had taken her phone away.
Alpha Leopold, tall and handsome, exuded an elegant charm, yet his actions were ruthless and unforgiving, each one more difficult to accept than the last.
"Alpha Leopold, give my phone back!" Gloria shouted, her voice trembling with anger.
Alpha Leopold ignored her demand, turning off the phone and walking over to the windowsill, where he casually tossed the phone out without a second thought, as if it were nothing of importance, unconcerned about whether it would hit someone below.
"Did I not teach you not to meddle in others' affairs? Just focus on your own," Alpha Leopold leaned down, a seemingly sympathetic expression crossing his face.
He spoke, "I heard you broke your bowl again. Why not just eat your meals? How about I feed you?"
Gloria met his gaze, which seemed tender, but a wave of bitterness surged within her.
She knew all too well the cold and heartless nature hidden beneath this man's polished exterior.
Alpha Leopold brought over a bowl of soup and sat down beside her bed, still wearing that smile.
"You can't skip meals, can you? Come on, open your mouth."
Gloria turned her face away in disgust, unwilling to speak to him, filled with aversion and resistance towards this man.
She heard a sigh beside her. "I remember when you first came to me, you acted pretty well. You listened to everything I said, unlike now..."
Alpha Leopold leaned closer, his tall figure casting a shadow over Gloria.
It was like the heavy shadow that had always loomed over her heart, one she could never shake off.
Gloria felt fear as his fingers lightly brushed her cheek, causing her to shiver involuntarily, as if a chill had swept over her.
Alpha Leopold lowered his voice, whispering in her ear, "If you don't want to eat, I can always feed that child to the dogs."
Gloria's pupils dilated in shock, unable to believe what she had just heard, questioning whether she had misheard him.
"What did you say? You jerk! Even if he hasn't been born yet, he is your son!" Gloria screamed in anger, her voice echoing in the hospital room.
Leopold scoffed. "My son? Strictly speaking, he's just a piece of meat that hasn't fully developed yet, Gloria."
Leopold leaned in closer, pressing his forehead against hers, and the once-gentle expression on his face darkened with a chilling intensity.
"Don't test my patience," he said coldly.
