Chapter 709
Third person's POV
"Julia, I need your help," Tabitha said, her eyes filled with sincerity and anticipation.
"It's my pleasure. Our little island owes its good life to you. Anything I can do, I'm at your service, no matter what," Julia stopped what she was doing, turned to Tabitha, and looked at her with determination.
Her heart was full of gratitude towards Tabitha and she was willing to do anything for her.
Tabitha instructed Julia, and then settled down on the island with Ayla.
She chose to stay here, firstly, because it was safer, and she could avoid exposure for the time being.
She was hiding from an enemy who wanted to kill her as much as Derek did.
Secondly, the facilities on the island were now quite complete, and living here was not a problem at all.
Every day, Noah would accompany Ayla to play around, and Ayla also loved this beautiful and fun-filled island.
Tabitha often sat quietly by the sea, watching the tides rise and fall, the sunset and sunrise, her mind full of thoughts.
She originally thought Derek would find her soon, as he had always been very concerned about her affairs.
However, as the days passed, Derek never appeared.
This uncertainty seemed to cast a shadow over her heart, and she was always worried about when that devilish man would suddenly appear.
But as time went on, she couldn't help but start to doubt, maybe... he would not come again.
Just then, her phone suddenly rang. Tabitha picked it up and saw that it was Gloria calling.
Tabitha had tried to contact her several times these days, but Gloria had not answered the phone, which made Tabitha feel puzzled and worried.
"You finally contacted me," Tabitha said, knowing about Gloria and Alpha Leopold's special relationship. Although Gloria did not mention it, she could not expose it, so she could only pretend to be as relaxed as before.
"I've been a bit busy recently. Every time I wanted to call you back, it was already late at night. I didn't want to disturb your rest, forgive me," Gloria's voice sounded very relaxed and cheerful, making it difficult to detect whether there was anything hidden behind her words.
"Where are you? Do you have time to meet me now?" Tabitha asked, feeling that Gloria seemed to be a bit wrong and wanted to confirm her situation in person.
Gloria looked out of the hospital window at the heavy snow outside, and a bitter smile unconsciously hooked the corner of her mouth.
But her voice still maintained a cheerful tone, "I'm afraid not. I'm still on a business trip in Iceland. When I come back, I will definitely treat you and Ayla to a big meal."
"Okay, I'll wait for you," Tabitha hung up the phone, feeling a bit stuffy in her heart.
She knew Gloria must be hiding something from her, but since Gloria didn't want to talk about it, she didn't know how to help her.
She could only say solemnly before hanging up the phone, "Gloria, you have to love yourself."
Hearing this, Gloria was stunned, then she smiled again. "Of course, I'm not someone who would treat myself badly. You also have to take care of your health. By the way... has Derek found you?"
"No, why?" Tabitha asked puzzled.
"Nothing, I was just asking. It's best if he hasn't. You can still eat a few more bowls of rice. My boss is calling me again, I have to go, bye." Gloria hung up the phone in a hurry, seemingly deliberately evading something.
Gloria's face had thinned a lot, her originally round cheeks now slightly sunken, and her chin had become sharper. She looked haggard.
The nurse smiled and brought the dinner over, trying to please her by saying, "Miss Bennett, you have just had a miscarriage, and you must sit well in this confinement. You have to eat more. You are still young, have a good health base, and you will recover soon. Getting pregnant again will not be a difficult thing."
"Take it away," Gloria said expressionlessly, her eyes revealing a trace of disgust and fatigue.
"Miss Bennett, please don't make it difficult for me. I am just a person who does odd jobs here," the nurse responded helplessly, a hint of pleading in her voice.
However, before she finished speaking, Gloria suddenly lost control of her emotions.
She suddenly waved her arm and overturned everything on the tray to the ground.
The food was instantly spilled all over the floor, the soup flowed everywhere, and the tableware was also smashed to pieces, making a harsh sound.
"Get out," Gloria spat out a word, her eyes full of anger and despair.
The nurse was frightened and shivered all over. She squatted down and began to clean up the debris on the ground, not daring to make a sound, for fear of angering Gloria again.
Gloria stared blankly at the snowflakes flying outside the window, her heart full of mixed feelings.
