Chapter 711
Third person's POV
Alpha Leopold took out a sapphire necklace from his pocket and placed it around Gloria's neck, his face instantly returning to that tender expression.
"Look, it suits you so well. Don't worry, whoever harmed our child will never see the sun again. Be good, take care of yourself, and don't think about anything else," he said.
Gloria's face was devoid of any color, her back already soaked with cold sweat, chilling her. Cold sweat also beaded on her forehead, trickling down her cheeks.
Her body trembled, filled with fear and despair, unsure of how to face this mad and cruel man.
As a mother who had experienced the pain of losing a child twice, Tabitha was heartbroken and worried when she learned about what had happened to Gloria.
Given Gloria's character, if her relationship with Leopold was normal, she would have informed Tabitha even if she had lost the child.
Her silence largely indicated that her relationship with Leopold was not something that could be talked about with Tabitha.
Tabitha was anxious, desperately wanting to find Gloria. Easthill was the most expensive luxury flat real estate in the city.
Coincidentally, Derek owned a property there, which he had assigned to Tabitha. At this moment, Tabitha couldn't afford to be concerned with much else.
After all, such a place wouldn't allow entry unless one was an owner or had the owner's permission, and it wasn't that easy to fool their way in.
Tabitha found the property manager and casually asked, "I'd like to check Leopold's apartment number."
Seeing that Tabitha was an owner, the property manager responded respectfully, "Welcome home, Mrs. Greenwood."
Tabitha made up an excuse and easily found out Alpha Leopold's apartment number.
Interestingly, it was on the same building as hers, only she was on the first floor, while Leopold's home was on the top floor.
Tabitha had never lived here, so she had never encountered Leopold.
Now that she knew Leopold's address, she dared not casually intrude, fearing exposure of her identity.
The residents here were either wealthy or celebrities, with an occupancy rate of only sixty percent.
At this time, there weren't many rooms with lights on.
The building had a total of seven floors, with one elevator serving one household per floor. The living room and bedroom on the top floor were both lit, indicating that someone was at Leopold's home.
Tabitha watched the cleaning staff shoveling snow in the distance and thought she needed to come up with a plan.
She took out ten banknotes and approached the cleaner, saying, "Excuse me, could you please do me a favor?"
Seeing the money, the cleaner immediately agreed.
The cleaner quickly went upstairs and rang the doorbell.
The door opened, and Leopold, dressed in pajamas, stood at the door, still elegant.
The cleaner said, "Mr. Sowell, an owner just reported that her child is missing. Since the child is too young and might not know if he entered the wrong building, have you seen a boy this tall who might have entered the wrong door?"
Leopold frowned, thought for a moment, and replied, "No, do you need me to call the police?"
The cleaner quickly shook her head, "No, we checked the surveillance, and the child should still be in this building. We won't disturb your rest then, and we'll look elsewhere."
The door closed.
Leopold pushed his glasses up his nose with his finger, a hint of inquiry in his eyes.
There were only six buildings in the South District, with no one living on the top floors of Building one, two, and three. That left two homes.
One was a child-free couple, and the other belonged to a celebrity who was always filming abroad and only stayed in the summer.
So, where did the child come from?
Moreover, there were surveillance cameras in the first-floor public area. One could check the surveillance to see if a child had come up—no need to confirm in someone else's home.
This was strange.
The cleaner met Tabitha in a corner, and the cleaner said, "Ma'am, I saw Mr. Sowell, and there was a woman in his living room, but she looked very ill, with a weak complexion."
Tabitha took out Gloria's photo and asked, "Is it her?"
The cleaner quickly nodded, "Yes, it's this lady."
Tabitha said gratefully, "Thank you," and gave her a few hundred dollars more.
Tabitha confirmed that Gloria was indeed here.
But Gloria couldn't be reached by phone. What method could she use to see Gloria?
Tabitha lowered her hat brim and left.
She bumped into a woman, afraid that others would notice her, and without lifting her head, she quietly apologized and hurried away.
She didn't notice that after she left, the woman she bumped into stood still, turned, and stared in the direction Tabitha went.
After a moment, a fierce look flashed across the woman's face, and she whispered, "You're still alive!"
That night, Tabitha tossed and turned, unable to sleep.
Her mind was full of thoughts about how to help Gloria.
Did Gloria willingly stay with Leopold, or did she want to escape like herself?
After much thought, she couldn't think of a better solution and felt that she had to ask Gloria's thoughts in person.
