#Chapter 255: The Sea of Souls
Ella’s POV
The spray of salt against my lips woke me. I gasped, eyes flying open to find… nothing. Just wind and a familiar green horizon with dark clouds churning overhead.
I looked down to see the great sea that stretched out below me. Screams and moans rising into the air, limbs and hands reaching, twisting, grasping at nothing.
The sea of souls.
My arms were stretched wide on either side of me. My toes hung over the edge of the cliff, just barely on solid ground. One more step and I would fall. One more step and I would be lost forever in that terrible sea.
I stumbled backward, gasping, until my feet found purchase on the rocky ground. I whirled around to see her standing there. Margaret. She looked just like she had the last time I had seen her—still wearing her gown from the gala, torn and bloodied. But now her face pale and her limbs too thin, and as I moved closer, I could see holes forming in her cheeks, exposing the teeth in her mouth.
