Chapter 1077
Shanglanders possessed an inherent trait—they were wildly conceited and behaved as if they were kings when standing in front of those they thought were weaker than them but would cower in fear in the presence of a powerhouse. It was no surprise that the Shanglander would blame Adrian when they encountered pirates.
Adrian ignored the Shanglander’s remark. He instead turned to look at Casey and asked, “When will they get here? Do you know who their employer is?”
Most pirates were in the employment of companies that held great influence.
Casey answered, “We’ll cross paths with them in about two hours, about eight o’clock. We don’t know who they are, but we aren’t ruling out the possibility of Scorpius.”
Scorpius was one of the four powerful pirate organizations of Seatum and was well-known across these waters.
“Yes, it’s most likely they’re from Scorpius because we’re currently close to their territory.”
“We’re doomed if they’re from Scorpius. Not only do they engage in illegal trade, but they also murder people.”
“What are we going to do?!”
The rest of the crew turned pale with fear and behaved as if they were confronting a powerful enemy.
Goch heaved a sigh. “They possess a huge amount of firepower and manpower. If we encounter them, we’ll be doomed. This is really unlucky.”
Sormus said, “We can’t just sit and wait for our doom. We have to figure out a way to deal with them. Are you willing to wait and do nothing, everyone?”
“Sormus is right.” Casey was the first person to step forward. “We have to figure out a way to fight them. We can’t just wait around for our end. If we did that, how are we any different from animals waiting to be slaughtered?”
Many people chimed in and expressed their unwillingness to just sit by and do nothing. But then a few Shanglanders stepped forward and scolded in rage, “You’re all a bunch of morons. We’re utterly incapable of fighting back, so we should just surrender and pray. We might just live if we do that!”
“That’s b*llshit!” Casey cussed. He pointed at the Shanglanders as he retorted, “They’re pirates. Do you think they’ll let you off just because you beg them for mercy? Shut the f*ck up, Shanglanders.”
“Is that how you want to do this? Are you f*cking unwilling to do it?” the Shanglanders immediately scolded back. They grabbed their weapons in preparation to fight.
Just as these two sides were about to break out in a fight, the ship captain arrived. The Gocastrian captain boomed, “Now isn’t the time to quarrel. We should be bound by a common hatred against the enemy and figure out a way to resolve the current crisis.”
Upon hearing this, the Shanglanders said, “Captain, these Naviens want to fight. We’re all well aware that these are pirates and that they’re extremely powerful. We should just surrender and beg for mercy to preserve our lives.”
It was Shanglanders’ inherent trait to fear the strong and bully the weak.
The captain was a reasonable man. He said, “Begging for mercy won’t solve anything at this point. We need to set up a plan so that we’re prepared to fight them at any moment.”
It was clear that the Shanglanders were displeased with the captain’s remark. They grunted, “Do what you like. If you want to die, don’t drag us elegant Shanglanders down with you. We’re leaving.”
The leading Shanglander waved his huge hand and he and his men walked out.
