Chapter 1058

Everyone boarded the plane. Lucas and Steel flew the plane. They had learned piloting during their training and had experience flying. Novemton headquarters received news of their impending departure. Inside, Crystal said, “Steel, Lucas, four Tempest-1s are already hovering above Serpent’s Haven to escort your flight. You can land at Novemton Airport, and we’ll maintain radio contact at all times.” “Understood.” “Preparing for takeoff…” Hum hum hum! Loud humming noises were heard. The plane accelerated and sped down the runway before lifting off, leaving the island with everyone’s hopes. Everyone sat in the cabin quietly and waited. The plane gained altitude and flew into the cloud layer to find four Tempest-1s waiting. The aircrafts adjusted their positions—front, back, left, and right—and escorted the plane. They sped off back to Navia. Everyone felt relief wash over them as the plane entered Navia territory. Adrian was leaning back in his seat with his eyes shut. Gloria noticed his condition and stretched out her hand to touch his forehead. “You’re burning up.” He glanced at her and smiled. His head was beginning to feel muddled and he was not fully aware of what was happening around him. Adrian fell asleep, but right before he dozed off, he said to Gloria, “Hannibal’s prophecy didn’t come true. I left Serpent’s Haven alive and didn’t go missing.” Gloria smiled. Yes, he was right about him leaving alive. *** Two hours later, the aircraft landed at Novemton Airport. Medical and security teams were already on standby. Adrian was placed on a stretcher and rushed to the ambulance upon landing. Many people were waiting in the area surrounding the airport to welcome the troop’s safe return, but Adrian was unaware of what was happening. He felt like he was in a dream. A very, very long dream. While he was unconscious, a sensation spread all over Novemton. The mission at Isle 416 was a success. The meteorite had been extracted and transported to Navia. Adrian remained dreaming for a very, very long time. *** Ten days later… The sunlight poured in through the window and shone on Adrian’s eyelids. He woke up from his dream, opened his eyes, and saw Gloria sitting by his side, looking at him with a bright smile on her face. “You’re awake,” said Gloria smilingly. Adrian moved his body. Upon noticing the situation, she chuckled and said hastily, “Don’t worry. Your arm is safe, and the wound is almost fully healed. But it left quite a bit of scarring on you. The doctor said that you can be discharged upon waking.” “How many days has it been?” asked Adrian. “It’s been ten days. The Isle 416 mission has been completed. We’ve transported all of the meteorites back to the country and left behind nothing for anyone else. “Everyone else has gone home. You’re the only one left,” said Gloria. Upon hearing her words, Adrian chuckled and said, “In that case, we shall go home today too. It’s been some time. I miss Nova and Sam.” Gloria nodded. “Okay, I’ll get the doctor. We’ll get them to check you again, and you should be able to leave by afternoon.” “Oh, Crystal told me to inform her when you’re awake. She’d like to come and visit.” Adrian shook his head. “It’s fine, let’s leave that for later. I don’t want to disturb her from her work.” “Okay.”
