Chapter 94

Soon, it was Friday. Ms. Smith and I went to the judicial auction center. This time, what was being auctioned wasn't just the hospital; there were many other things as well, including housing and the like. I had originally planned to come over once it started, but Ms. Smith was so excited because it was her first time at an event like this that she dragged me over early. When we entered the venue, the auction hadn't started yet but a crowd had already formed. Ms. Smith looked around and didn't see anyone she knew, so she came back to my side, pouting. "What should I take note of for opening a hospital?" She propped her chin on her hands as she looked at me. Today, she was wearing a mermaid dress, looking absolutely charming. I did my best to keep my eyes in check and not look where I shouldn't. "Don't know. I've never opened one before." I shook my head. Although I had been a doctor for many years, I had only been responsible for treating patients. I had never been involved with any other aspects of it. "Fine. I'll just give it a try and see how it goes." Ms. Smith stretched lazily. I couldn't help glancing at her. "Give it a try and see how it goes? For a business worth millions? Wow, people in the medical field sure are rich," I thought. Although my family was quite wealthy, I had only splurged on Casey in the past; I had never really spent lavishly on myself before. "Why are you looking at me? Is there something on my face?" Ms. Smith noticed my gaze and turned around, her graceful figure on full display. I shook my head and thought, "Nice body." She then hooked her arms around mine and said, "When is it going to start? These heels are killing me." Although she was dressed maturely and certainly had the figure to match, at the end of the day, she was still just a sheltered young lady. After only a short while, she was already leaning half her weight on me. She didn't seem to think anything of it, though. In her coquettish voice, she whined playfully in my ear, causing a wave of goosebumps down my back. "I told you we should have come later, but you insisted." I lowered my head and happened to see a very smooth and fair part of her body. I almost got a bloody nose. She was surprisingly unbothered by it all. She made no effort to hide anything and didn't seem to care if I was watching. Leaning on my arm for support, she pouted slightly, a little annoyed as she said, "I wanted to come early, but no one said there wouldn't even be a place to sit." Seats were only assigned once the auction officially began. Until then, everyone had to stand around. Ms. Smith was wearing a pair of really high heels, which were beautiful, sure, but for women, they were undoubtedly a kind of torture device. "Jace, why are you with her?" Casey's voice rang out. But I wasn't even surprised anymore. It was normal to bump into her, considering how active she had been recently. When I turned around, Casey saw that Ms. Smith was almost hugging me. She asked furiously, "Why are you here with her? You know each other?" Ms. Smith stared at Casey and said, "Watch your tone. What do you mean by 'why are you here with her?' So what if we're together?" Casey widened her eyes. "Aren't you dating that other woman? Why are you here with this one?" "We've broken up, and my relationship is none of your concern." I frowned. Casey's voice was displeasingly sharp, and I didn't like hearing her speak. "You guys dated?" Ms. Smith glanced at me and then at Casey with a look of disbelief on her face. I nodded, but Casey quickly said, "Not only that, we almost got married too. Why? Are you jealous?"
